Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Thanks for answering this question!!
I basically have determined that since I have a 24/7 running PC, and only use plex when I'm not using the PC, there is no reason to have a powerful NAS!
Thanks again.
I've seen a lot of people getting very excited over NAS that supports transcoding/encoding on the fly, but really, what is the benefit?
Why wouldn't you just have your computer connect to a MUCH CHEAPER NAS and run plex from the PC? Am I missing something, aside from maybe a slightly lower...
^The expenses are just ridiculous, but that's what I figured. I'm already struggling to keep my 3 TB system backed up can't imagine an 8 TB system.
Although I am using 2x3TB Synology Hybrid RAID, so basically will be purchasing 4x3TB for 3 TB of storage, so my methods are very stupid.
I just had one of my Western Digital RED drives fail in a Synology RAID.
I've never been someone who would return hard drives before, because they contain personal information. However, I just bought this thing for $150 less than 6 months ago, and would really prefer to just return the...
Right, because China is a capitalist mecca.
China is a government run country, with global capitalist-zones in government approved areas only. That's not capitalism.
Well, first off, extremely jealous of your insane (awesom) storage solution. What the heck do you store on that thing!?
Secondly, yes, but my NAS is a maximium of TWO drives. It seems to me that it would be better to setup a nightly backup of Drive A onto Drive B, rather than using the...
I recently purchased a Synology DS212j and installed 2x 3TB WD Red Drives.
Upon formatting the disks, it asked me to choose a method of initiation for the drives, and I went with the defaul "Synology Hybrid RAID". I have now looked into this a little more and it appears that the "Synology...
Just downloaded AMD overdrive - getting the exact same readings. I don't know how my chip is still running if it has been routinely getting up to 89º C when playing Skyrim....
No, no, and no...I've been lazy with that stuff, unfortunately. Could it really make that big of a difference? If so, I'll investigate.
I've always hated the thermal paste thing, how are you supposed to spread out paste the size of a "grain of rice" across the entire chip? I'm also hesitant...
CoreTemp does, shows
CPU #0: 82º C
Keep in mind this is all running 100% stock again. I never overclocked or unlocked 4th core before this week, so I never paid any attention to the temps. I just bumped my case fans up to high, but how much of a difference could that possibly make... (I've...
OK, I have now reverted back to 3 cores, and realized that it wasn't the 4th core causing the overheating.
My CPUID Hardware Monitor is now showing just as high temps - even higher! See image below...
Now, is this accurate? How is my chip overheating to ridiculous temps after only 20...
My temperature sensors obviously don't work after the unlocking of the 4th core, but I do show TMPIN0 and TMPIN1 in Hmonitor. It seems to be showing idle around 55º C, but then right when I start playing Skyrim, it starts shooting up. I left it on once (before I realized the issue) and came...
I'm running at 1920x1200, on one 24" LCD. I want to get a second 24" LCD soon. Besides gaming, mostly just HD videos/movies, web browsing, and organizing/maintaining local servers (I have over 20 TB).
Yeah, I think I'm probably just going to wait a year or longer to upgrade everything. I just purchased 4 GB additional RAM, so I'll have that - but the cost/benefit of upgrading anything else doesn't make sense right now. I already have an SSD, so I'll probably just mess around with...
TVs almost all look the same to me, their resolutions remain the same, and the panels are all of comparable quality? I also don't like 3D or 120 hz tech, but maybe I'm a noob.
I had never even heard about Anti-glare and the difference it can make on a monitor. I assumed these 24" models were extremely comparable.
Can anyone with more knowledge weigh-in ? Why does Dell make new 27" models with better "anti-glare" - and what constitutes a better anti-glare anyway...
Are the 2412M and 2410 glossy screens? My understanding was that they were not glossy; I was looking to upgrade soon and do not want a glossy screen.
Also, why would you want the new years model, aren't these two just as capable as the current 27" screens? The specs seem to be identical.
I've heard people complain about the monitor "BUZZING" when displaying certain colors/images.
Has anyone noticed this with the Dell 27" or Dell 24" IPS models? I'm looking to upgrade my Gateway monitor here soon.
I can't stand high-pitched buzzing/ringing, my ears must be extra sensitive.
I highly recommend you get 1200p. (1920x1200)
The extra space makes general computing MUCH roomier, and it's extremely similar to a 1080p display for your card.
1920x1200 monitor @ 24" would do you well.
Isnt this the Dell you're looking for - The Dell Ultrasharp 2412M...
Yeah, thanks for pointing that out.
I guess, at this point, I'd be interested in learning how to Overclock and potentially attempt unlocking the 4th core, and upgrading my RAM to 8GB.
I'm not such an enthusiast that I want to throw a ton of money at the rig, just want to have a decent gaming...
Currently, I have:
Phenom II X3 720 BE
HD 6870
4GB RAM
Is this a worthwhile upgrade:
Core i5-3570k
Compatible MB
8 GB RAM
Thanks. In my research it seems that for gaming the X3 720 is still fairly adequate, and this upgrade may not be worth the coin?
Should I instead upgrade my RAM and...
I actually am daisy chaining a couple of surge protectors on the same outlet, and live in a crappy apartment from the 80's that doesn't even have GFI's in the bathrooom. This seems to be a possibility. I'm going to move my full system to a different building and attempt this first.
Thanks...
This is my enclosure: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16816132016
Also, please note that my backup drive which is also located in this enclosure is working fine. It is not part of the RAID.
That was part of the confusion, it kept showing different single drives as bad. It says all drives are "HEALTHY" in the drive status window, for example.
Here's an updated screenshot *edited attempt 2* : http://i42.tinypic.com/2a4si1v.jpg
I'm definitely willing to fork over cash at this...
To be honest, I don't want to come here for lectures about what I should have done.
It's over, and I am looking for solutions or steps I can take to get my data back. All of your posts are not helping and making me extra depressed/disgusted.
I have a RAID5 setup on an eSATA storage system w/ 10 slots. I have 5x2TB, for a total of 8 TB setup in my RAID, and then a single 2 TB drive as a backup/other drive.
Today I started up my drive, started a video file, and then all of the sudden heard the "disconnect" sound in Windows, the...
