I think Alumina is a kind of super glue type thermal paste that you don't have to keep changing every 1 year or so. Im not 100% sure on that but thats what I heard. But you can try to slowy twist the HS or get a Hair Dryer and heat up the HS do the paste comes loose.
Im using a Scythe S-Flex SFF21F with a Zalman Fan-Mate 2 on a XP-120. Its very silent even on max. I can't hear it over the other fans in my case. I love it. :D

Nop. It has nothing to do with your PC. The monitor is known to have a DVI-Problem. Viewsonic knows about the problem. They are either working on a working Driver or doing nothing about it. Till then you have to use the VGA. Thats the only way you will get a screen.
