I think Alumina is a kind of super glue type thermal paste that you don't have to keep changing every 1 year or so. Im not 100% sure on that but thats what I heard. But you can try to slowy twist the HS or get a Hair Dryer and heat up the HS do the paste comes loose.

Nop. It has nothing to do with your PC. The monitor is known to have a DVI-Problem. Viewsonic knows about the problem. They are either working on a working Driver or doing nothing about it. Till then you have to use the VGA. Thats the only way you will get a screen.

Well its for Video Cards that dont have inclosed fans to pull in cool air from the outside. Also you can mod a fan to fit there to blow cool air acoss to the Video Card.

IMO I would stick with the 7800GTX. Its still a great card. And when you upgrade to Vista grab a DX10 card. To answer your question 7950GT is the better card.

There is a Zalman 9500 AT for Intel's LGA775 stocket that has 4 pins so its kinda temp controlled.

If you read most of the Inq's articles about nVidia almost all of them is negitive. But alot of articles on ATi is positive. I stopped caring abotu 3dmarks along time already. It seems to give ATi cards more points then nVidia's. Its all about reviews now.

When my NB fan died I just called ASUS and one of them was on its way to my house.

Those temps looks about right. Mines idle around 50-54. You can't lower temps unless you water cool.
