    You could try a windsurfer on the antenna. With a concave piece of an aluminum sheet on the antenna I'm getting internet connectivity from my laptop indoors to my neighbor 600 feet or so away. I'm just doing this to test the thing and not for internet access.

    Here's another similar product. The discussion at the bottom says the Alpha adapter has the 8187L chip and not the 8187B the Blueproton adapter has.     Do a chargeback. My wife worked for one of the 2 main card processors, and it does not count against you if you chargeback. The funding to Fry's goes into a reserve account and it's their responsibility to resolve the dispute.
