I did not record the sound of my replacement monitor, since the noise was similar. But my first monitor had its base frequency at 191Hz. It had some (nice) harmonics, and was a clear peak in the spectral analysis. So I don't think that's a harmonic. (you meant 207Hz, didn't you?) rao -

I had one completely dead pixel on the third replacement so I stayed with the 2nd replacement. Of course the screen is great except the issues. I'm just very sensitive to noise, and probably would be annoyed by the noise of your screen also. Rao -

Hi David, an exchange is not going to work, since i managed to exchange it twice, but all I got has been a unit that was still noisy and had a dead pixel. Since I already tried to sell it, but would only have gotten 900 Euros for it, I will have to keep it for now. I will call NEC support... -

Usually not. I have 11 other NEC monitors in my working and private environment. There is one single faulty pixel on one single unit. Not to mention, that all of them are absolutely silent. This very good experiences made me choose the 2690 in the first place. So it seems that the faults are... -

thanks a lot marylin. even if that's bad news for me, because I would have been less frustrated, if I knew, that all units were affected. but knowing that NEC handles noise issues like dead pixels is a bit sad. so one might be lucky and get a silent unit. if we are even more lucky, the issue... -

I also thought LCDs were silent. I got myself a 23" Cinema Display for one week to check if it's possible to build a large monitor that's silent. well it is... I think now that we know that LCDs can be quite noisy, you simply have to check each model first. rao -

this could be very true, since that was the answer for all the 3 units I had in my hands. when I got one with rev. 3A and a 7xx serial I finally gave up. In my opinion, ALL 2690 have a little noise. Only that most people won't hear it or just don't care. It seems, that there has been another...
