    Types of raid

If you have 3 HDDs to use, the only reason I can think of to deter one from throwing a RAID0 array together (For a new install on the O/S drive) is: - None of them are identical enough so it won't work (Or would at least degrade the speed of the fastest drive) - I don't have a backup disk...

    Types of raid

If you're spazzing out on how to use RAID (I did), take a pill (I do) and work out what you can do with what hardware you've already got then try it. Unless you actually prove that YOU can recover data when a data-protective raid array fails, it won't help your sanity. You need to actually build...

What did YOU do to your RIG today? upgrades/additions/changes?

Today Farcry2 arrived so I decided to settle on my current CPU OC: E7300 2.66 @330x10 for 3.3GHz ! And my first ever over-volt ! @1.248V(cpuz) Kewl... Now I can start testing Gfx in FarCry2 and assess the need for graphics OC

    HEPA filtered case?

Here's a thing re: filters being too restrictive for any given intake fan... - Make the fan suck through a number of filters arranged in parallel, dividing the load between the filters, making less effective load on the fan. I think.... 4 filters quarters the load. Or get a ruddy great...

    new joystick

Truly sorry for the ridiculous bump but I'd like to know if this topic has come on at all in the last two years... My old Fave was the sidewinder 3dpro, followed by the later sw3dpro with a bigger head. Then I moved to a Saitek Cyborg Evo. I've had my Evo for years and modded it a bit -...

    CPU Voltage charts anywhere?

hA hA! Makes the greatest of sense. Speedfan voltage name renamed "Vdimm" EDIT: @3.3GHz Vcore set in bios to 1.25 resulting in 1.184-1.2 in cpu-z and 1.25 shown in bios. 3.2GHz crashed it before. 13 hours of prime 95 small fft. temps seemed stable at 40/44c but went to 45/50c later in test...

    CPU Voltage charts anywhere?

Ha Ha - Many thanks - No longer scared of raising my VCore from stock 1.12 (cpu-z) Another thing tho: - Speedfan shows Vcore1: 1.12 and Vcore2: 1.86 - Everest shows the 1.12 on VCore where I'd expect it but has the 1.86V figure under "+2.5V"... I've never heard of a +2.5V rail in a PC...

    question about mounting side fans

Well mate, cut a couple more holes in the side of the thing and zip-tie a couple more fans on... But I'd cut a hole in anything me... My PC is screwed to a piece of plywood on the wall.... EDIT: Please don't cut holes in your CM Sniper

All about LEDs. Just to reinforce the idea that they're not just light bulbs.

    8800 ultra cooling mod

Great mod ;) How much gap was there between ram chips and heat sink contact area compared to gap between gpu and sink? I ask because the ram sink tape was so thick on my g80 8800gts I think I'd have trouble refitting it if I wanted to - Don't think thermal grease has gap-filling properties...
