Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Crap.
The computer I built has a RAID controller which from what I've looked up is what I need for JBOD. However the server I'm wanting to use this for does not.
Guess I can buy a cheap PCI RAID card?
EDIT: Saw the bit about disadvantages on software RAID, not a good idea...I need to...
Hi, kinda experienced with computers in most ways (built the machine I'm currently using, 8 Gb ram, QX9650, watercooled GTS 8800 vid).
Now for my server I've got an old Dell XPS Gen 4 computer running Windows Server 2008. It has an SSD drive to boot off of and a media volume to hold my...
Odd problem.
I boot to the DVD to install (a legit) copy of server 2008 x86.
I've had server 2008 before on this machine. My hardware is fine. But I changed out the drive for an SSD just to test it out.
Keyboard works in pre-boot environment. Then installation files load and Server 2008...
Ntune causes a BSOD whenever I try to run it. It's the only app that has done that to my new rig! I'll try the new rivatuner later and see if this works! Thanks...
It's not there anymore..running Vista 64 and an 8800GTS watercooled. Wanted to check what it's operating at under load and I'm not seeing a place to do that.
Looked around for 3rd party apps like everest, but those are paid programs...there used to be a way to do this for free ~_~
EDIT: Am...
It was already plugged into the PSU when I booted. I just plugged it into the mobo while I was in Windows. It had already been plugged into the PSU and active for at least 15 minutes before it blew.
It was a WD raptor 73! A good drive, or was...
I've heard they run cool...they do for me, at least...I've had a lot of problems but one that that has worked very well is my water cooling.
As for speed stepping, thanks, I'll check it out. When I'm all settled down and ready to start learning to OC, I'll do that as well :p

Stock QX9650, says it's running @ 2.0 GHz if I'm reading this correctly. Easy Tune 5 says it's running @ 2.6. Isn't it supposed to run at 3.0?
Never overclocked anything before in my life by the way, once my rig is finished setting up I...
Oh sorry, thought I posted that...Ultra X3 1 kW PSU.
I'm going to take a spare drive and install Vista and see what happens. The Internet is crap across my entire place, on three computers and two laptops. From none of them can I get alcohol 120, access download.com and actually download...
Ugh.
I've been having nothing but trouble with this. This is my first, and possibly for a while, last attempt at building a computer. I almost wish I didn't get state-of-the-art stuff for it.
Made another topic here (Power Supplies) because the next day I had sparks flying out of my PSU...
Maybe.
Wouldn't it short out immediately, though? I plugged it into the SATA port on the mobo while Windows was active, but it had been plugged into the PSU for at least 15 minutes.
While we're on the subject of power, quick easy question: A video card that is water cooled doesn't need a...
