Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I also noticed this. A maxed out 4 bay can replace my current NAS and my ESXi server. Anyone with experiance using QNAP Virtualization and Container stations?
Hi, thank you for the replies.
1GB nics will do fine for me, but I will not re-build a new eval every 30-60 days :-)
With respect to RTL8111G, I have found this;

but have not been able to test it.
My understanding is that the 5.1 driver...
Hi Nicholas,
Are you running this VSAN cluster on the free ESXi license?
This article list a passthru RAID controller as a requirement for VSAN. Do your NUCs have that?

Hi all,
I would like to build a 5.5 VSAN home lab using the Shuttle XH81V.
See a XH61V build here:
http://www.bussink.ch/?p=1123
Two questions arise:
1. I cannot find anyone having success with the 8111G nics on the net, the XH61V build linked to above uses 8111E. Has anyone had any success...
Hi,
I googled for an All-in-one PROXMOX solution and decided to wake up this old thread again.
I am doing some research on PROXMOX to replace my ESXi 5.1 host as I want to go all-in on open source leaving vsphere behind.
I am researching the possibilities to run PROMOX as a combined...
Thank you !
I have been happy with my QNAP TS-239 for several years now, but want to upgrade, and prefer to build my own hardware
I have been looking for a FreeNAS alternative as I do not need ZFS and prefer a Linux based OS.
I have been googling a lot without fiding the site you linked...
Hi,
I guess the question is also valid for the Synology NAS OS.
They are both open source and available under GPL.
Has anyone tried to install it on more powerful hardware?
john
Hi,
Due to the reduced HW support for non-server grade HW in ESXi 5.5 and the lack of a free vCenter license, I have been looking into XenServer lately.
To me, the products seem to be very similar, and as XenServer has been open sourced we will never get the same problems using it.
So...
