In my experience, it’s doing RAIDs with SSDs you would have a problem with the 92xx cards. I’ve read that those problems have been fixed with 93xx cards. But, if you’re simply spooling the SSDs and are running IT mode, then it runs very OK. This is in my experience though.
If you have a UPS (which I suggest you should with that much HDD and data to be stored), then try running this in powershell: Set-StoragePool -FriendlyName _POOL_NAME_HERE_ -IsPowerProtected $true
...although, I don't know if that command still is valid in 2016 or 10.
I also had that slow...

You can do what they did at STH ?
Actually, don't bother with the extra PSU and motherboard either, especially if your current PSU can power another 24 drives. Just get 2 of those external molex plug on the PCI...
I still believe that if you want a NAS for minimal use or archives or backups, and your budget is below 200, then, you're better off as Blue Fox said. A 2-bay NAS is about 150-ish, and you won't need to do any of the installation except for plugging the HDDs and power. The software or OS is...
As kaigame said, the GPU won't process the sound, it just sends the bit stream through, no processing is done, it's still the AVR doing the decoding. But you have to set this up on your preferred media player, like Kodi has this option.
As far as I know, you won't be able to do the audio pass-thru for things like Dolby TrueHD or DTS HD. The media player would off-load the data directly on to the AVR, and let the AVR handle the decoding. By using the mobo audio jacks, directly to your AVR, it will still be the CPU doing the...
MSM only shows it as an "Enclosure", but I just can't find an indicator that could tell me that I'm running in dual link. Unless, there's another way to find out outside of MSM.
I just realised......
...how do you know if you're running in dual uplink ? I know, plugging 2 cables gives you that answer, in a physical sense, but what if 1 cable is not working, right ? ;) ...anyway how do you know ?
Thanks !
Strangel situation...
After rebooting me server, the LSI controller dropped 1 of the HDD off the RAID10 array, and it seems a few minutes later it dropped another off the array. Now, the RAID10 is giving out a failed status.
Is there a way anywhere in MSM or from the controller BIOS to re-add...
How do I get SMART information from the drives in a RAID10 array that is behind an HP SAS Expander and built on a LSI 2308 controller ?
I used to be able to see the SMART info on the same drives using CrystalDiskInfo when the drives were still independent, and not configured in a RAID. In...
I used the MSM utility, or MegaRAID Storage Manager -thingy, everything is in a Windows environment, no other 3P software RAID added such as FlexRAID, or DB or DrivePool. Just RAID10 on the LSI2308 controller.
Although it's behind an HP SAS Expander.
...on a side note, how do you get SMART...
Uhmm..if it's just 10GB you need, why go through the trouble and expenses of buying a NAS unit and HDDs ?
Google Drive comes with 15GB, or for 2-3 dollars a month you get 100GB.
..or is 10GB a typo ?
I'm planning to move/migrate my RAID10 array of 4 disks from one server to another server which is dedicated for the use of the RAID10.
So here's the question, can I just move the set of HDDs part of the RAID10 array and plug them on the new server and have all the data readily available ?
The...
