Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Yeah I was mainly pointing out how helpful Hard OCP has been. My old 3930k system with 64GB of ram still works well for after effects and editing but my graphic artist needs are much greater.
That being said I obviously need brush up on some of the issues with threadripper. I think your...
Haven't built anything since my workstation in 2013, which i'm writing this post on and still works great!
I have a graphics artist that is using After Effects (CPU clock speed biased), Cinema 4D (CPU&GPU), and Octane Renderer (GPU biased).
She needs a new build that hopefully has the...
This is awesome. Wasn't sure I would want a mini itx case but that cooler master looks incredible and will fit nicely on the bookshelf where my projector is. I'll likely go 16GB of ram. The Asia blu-ray link goes to an LG drive. I have that exact drive from my workstation build, so i'll...
I basically like shooters and racing games. I'd like a GTX 670 or equivalent. I work in video (see previous post on workstation build) so I have so many drives it's hard to count. My main drive is a samsung 830. I have 16 WD black 1TB drives and 2 newer seahate 2 TB. Most are hardly used...
Looking for a good Steambox/HTpC to join my gaming systs in my media room. I'd like a case that's as small and tidy as the official steam cases and that are nearly as powerful. (Gtx670/770) I won't watch a ton of movies on it, but that functionality would be nice. I definitely would like to stay...
Got any suggestions of a good one that has 3 pci-e x16(x8)-sized slots?
Edit: This is just a basic home server for backing up my computers and serving up media files, photos, etc. It's not going to be taxed much and it's up time isn't mission critical for any particular purpose. Worst case...
Yeah, after looking at some pci-e x1 options, it seems like I can pay $250 for a decent card, but of course it will be hampered in performance by the bus. There's also a bunch of usb 3.0 raid stuff etc. Those all seem pretty dubious as well.
So my HP won't let me use the pci-e slot for anything but video. So it's back to either getting a pci-e x1 video card or a pci video card or going with something like the build Danny suggested.
If I go,with a new build is that build still currently a good suggestion? Is there any benefit...
Just in case anyone is looking for similar information in the future I thought I'd post up some of the findings I came across during my research:

Not sure how I feel about buying a used card when I can get a 570 OC for $229 and theres only a little difference. I'm actually thinking of doing a 570SLI setup. I just hope my Seasonic 750w 80 Plus Gold PSU can handle it.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Adobe states on their site that real time effects (and whether a frame will render real time or not) are dependent on CPU speed, GPU speed, and Video RAM available.
I just wish a GTX 580 didn't cost $500! But I guess it's better than $1500 for a Quadro.
Just wanted to give a quick performance update. Not sure if this tells anyone anything, but my 3930k build rendered a 1:30 1080p After Effects project in 9:40. That same project is rendering on my Late 2011 Macbook Pro (2760QM,16GB of Ram, Samsung 830, 1GB AMD Radeon HD 6770M) in about 45...
