Probably one of the best TN panels around.
But unfortunately it's not pwm free and it comes badly calibrated, at least the 27" model does.
The glares it produces might also be too distracting for some.
Are you using an amd card? Because I know for sure, on nvidia lut gets reset in most games, especially with console ports that provide black level controls.
The "gamma" slider in d3 is just probably a black levels adjustment slider like in the most games.
Well, there are work arounds for this...
I'm quite sure 950 if calibrated will have colors as good as any VA. http://wecravegamestoo.com/forums/monitor-reviews-discussion/8220-samsung-s27a950d-review.html
And the perceived contrast might actually be higher if you use it in a lit room because it's fully glossy and the blacks are quite...
These lower end eizo monitors appear to be decently calibrated on the factory as well. This should be a huge factor in choosing a monitor if you going to do gaming on it.
Does it actually work with games for you? Because for me it didn't. The only thing that works 100% is the borderless windowed mode app.

I always though 4k was a waste of money for gaming. It's extremely taxing for the gpu, and the benefits of higher ppi and fov aren't that huge if you going to play games on low-mid anyway. You can also just sit a bit further away from your lower ppi monitor or downsample from higher res to mimic...
Based on my experience with VA displays. The vertical viewing angles might be better but the black crush is unavoidable.

s27a950d uses the best TN panel ever produced. Don't even consider anything with VA or TN, it will be a huge downgrade.
If your unit was decently factory calibrated and you don't have issues with the pwm I would suggest keeping it.
Is there any difference in the actual colors? I've heard that the mackbook screen doesn't really cover srgb closely. It's actually around 87% of something. But I guess the lack of a matte film makes up for this.
So, according to their market research users prefer the matte coating. But this doesn't really correlate with the reality if you look at the tv's, imacs, laptops and tablets all are glossy and also being used for prolonged sessions and people are totally alright with it.
Either the pc gaming...
