Probably one of the best TN panels around.
But unfortunately it's not pwm free and it comes badly calibrated, at least the 27" model does.
The glares it produces might also be too distracting for some.
Are you using an amd card? Because I know for sure, on nvidia lut gets reset in most games, especially with console ports that provide black level controls.
The "gamma" slider in d3 is just probably a black levels adjustment slider like in the most games.
Well, there are work arounds for this...
I'm quite sure 950 if calibrated will have colors as good as any VA. http://wecravegamestoo.com/forums/monitor-reviews-discussion/8220-samsung-s27a950d-review.html
And the perceived contrast might actually be higher if you use it in a lit room because it's fully glossy and the blacks are quite...
These lower end eizo monitors appear to be decently calibrated on the factory as well. This should be a huge factor in choosing a monitor if you going to do gaming on it.
Does it actually work with games for you? Because for me it didn't. The only thing that works 100% is the borderless windowed mode app.

I always though 4k was a waste of money for gaming. It's extremely taxing for the gpu, and the benefits of higher ppi and fov aren't that huge if you going to play games on low-mid anyway. You can also just sit a bit further away from your lower ppi monitor or downsample from higher res to mimic...
Based on my experience with VA displays. The vertical viewing angles might be better but the black crush is unavoidable.

s27a950d uses the best TN panel ever produced. Don't even consider anything with VA or TN, it will be a huge downgrade.
If your unit was decently factory calibrated and you don't have issues with the pwm I would suggest keeping it.
Is there any difference in the actual colors? I've heard that the mackbook screen doesn't really cover srgb closely. It's actually around 87% of something. But I guess the lack of a matte film makes up for this.
So, according to their market research users prefer the matte coating. But this doesn't really correlate with the reality if you look at the tv's, imacs, laptops and tablets all are glossy and also being used for prolonged sessions and people are totally alright with it.
Either the pc gaming...
They've been out of production since 2011, I've also checked ebay recently and only seen like one 750d, good luck finding these.
Actually, I'm glad I've sold mine, it used some nasty pwm flicker which affected my eyes in a horrible way causing irritation, tiredness and dry eye symptoms. On top...
We should make a petition on change.org to the monitor companies asking them to get their shit together and start using the plasma deposition coating across all their products aimed at gamers and multimedia content consumption, or just some dark toned plastic like the one you can find on the...
Probably just a poor market research done by the monitor companies that produce displays for entertainment purposes, because the 98% of tv's are non reflective glossy, and the older ones were using the true semi gloss, that is completely different compared to the "semi glossy coating" used on...
Dell have recently released a 5k monitor with a PDC, thanks to apple, because apparently they are trying to compete with the new imac. We can only hope that they will drop the matte coating completely some day and the others will follow. There's no reason to ruin perfectly fine monitors with a...
Too bad there won't be a steammachine in the foreseeable future with similar performance that is priced in the 500$ range that could compete with potatostation, because consoles are sold at a face value or even at a lose in case of ps3 and the prices will only drop more from here.
So, why didn't they equip it with a hardware lut? I would take this any day over the gimmicky things like usb hub, slim bezels, or fake calibration reports.
Maybe the pdc worth the compromised blacks for me. I've seen the newer 27imacs in stores, and they were simply amazing, clear and perfectly saturated colors. I suspect they use the exact same panel as the amg2755.
The one reviewed by =DEAD= seems to also have a really good factory calibration...
http://www.overclockers.ru/lab/55759/Po_lestnice_vniz_ili_teryaya_orientiry._Obzor_i_testirovanie_monitora_NEC_MultiSync_P242W.html
Well, the nec seems to have problems with the srgb emulation and is overpriced.
Well, maybe fuck hardware lut monitors. There's another option...
Doesn't the cx241 suffer from the high pixel response time as well? Unfortunately I'm not in the US, I'm in Russia and all these prices are pretty much irrelevant here because of the national currency crash, ordering from amazon won't probably make a difference either, I guess the shipment cost...
Thank you, very informative, going to check the ev2336's reviews right now.
But what about the hardware lut NEC monitors? I would also go for a 24" 1200p monitor that has a 1:1 pixel mapping letterboxed mode for consoles.
Is the pixel response time really that bad if I don't play any online games competitively?
The lowest ping to the closest to me game server is around 130ms anyway, so there's no point. I know, smooth motion looks nice and all since I used to have a 120hz monitor, but now I'd rather have an...
I have a lower end model, but I read they all the same in terms of UI.
1)
Scene select feature is a gimmick that allows you to chose from a bunch of badly calibrated presets that are completely useless, aside from two of them. Not sure about the standard preset or how they match after...
It costs 2x more.
The cs230 already costs 1600k where I live, just like everything else.
Is the A-TW polarizer that big of a deal? Does it improve black levels or does it just eliminate the IPS glow?
http://www.amazon.com/Eizo-CS230-BK-ColorEdge-LCD-Monitor/dp/B009YOTG6C
What about this thing? A 700$ pro srgb monitor with hardware lut. I don't even care about input lag anymore and 1080p is perfectly fine. :D
I'm in the exact same position as you, except I don't do any photo editing, I'm just so incredibly picky about picture quality.
I also need it to be precisely calibrated on the factory, so I don't have to run all my games in borderless windowed mode to apply custom gamma curves.
I was looking...
Is the PDC really expensive to implement on a cheaper monitors?
I'm not sure how it affects black levels. But from what I've seen the new imac with PDC looked really gorgeous in stores I've visited recently. And despite the harsh lightening with multiple light sources, I couldn't spot any...
Ag looks quite horrible in a well lit environment too, it diffuses all the light completely ruining the contrast, it looks even worse than playing in a fully dark room.
Regardless of the coating type you need to light condition your room, because it has a huge impact on the picture quality, and...
