I'm still waiting for my "luxury build" but since I paid a tad over $1650 for one I'll add a couple of cents worth.
Like others said, the info on all types of hardware is covered on ths Board. Overclocking older AMDs on 939 mobos to cooling the latest Intel screamer, it's all there. But...
He asked in his original post about the start date of the 30 day guarantee. That pretty much tells me he had problems out of the box. He also noted that when doing simple things like browsing he suffered CTDs and BSDs. I've only been using PCs since the early 90s and don't claim to know...
This thread along with some others along the same line have made my new build decision a lot easier. I've been eyeballing a Core i7 for weeks now and ordered the rig in my sig line this AM.
While this is an enthusiast Board, not everyone here is either qualified or inclined to "fix it...
I come from way back when hard overclocking was shorthand for "I burned up another board". :)
Actually if I felt I needed the extra speed I'd have gone for a 5000+. The "tuned" 4400+/4600+ should be fast enough to get me thru what I need to run these days without spending anymore. I can save...
From what I've read the cache difference isn't that critical, or is it? This will be my first experience with an AMD so I'm not that sure.
The 4400+ was a 2.2 chip while the 4600+ is a 2.4 chip. VM will give it a conservative overclock of around 5% from what I've read in reviews, so I should...
I ordered a 4400+ on June 5th. VM upgraded the order this past weekend to a 4600+. I'm not going to complain since they didn't charge a cent for doing so. :)
Leon,
If you can. drop a line to me at wclarke@isp.com and I'll reply with a addy to an vendor's site and order form. That should verify since the e-mail addys will match up.
BTW I noticed that Velocity Micro dropped the same AM2s last night or early today as well. I mave be getting a...
The ASUS M2N SLI Deluxe and M2N32 SLI Deluxe boards should be fine with Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800, or Velocity Micro didn't test it before they began taking orders.
Just my opinion but......
I've been using PCs since a lot of gamers have been walking (1980s) and I've never seen that buying "outdated and cheap" is a good way to spend money in the long run.
I didn't order the fastet AM2 chip or graphics card because I want to wait for Vista/DirectX10...
