As mentioned always save your contacts to google and you won't have this problem in the future. There really isn't a good way to transfer the ones you have now to google if they are stored on the phone but at least you can save yourself some trouble next time. If the app above doesn't work try...

I know this thread is supposed to be over, but sometimes you can get the settings menu to open up and either clear data on the launcher or clear defaults and use another one. I've had this problem before on phones... It's far from dead.

Yep, handcent will do that. I used to have it enabled but somewhere along the line I stopped using the reminder. It's still there though.

I've never seen a sprint phone with a sim card in it... Its possible the iphones have them as I've never played with one before, but typically sprint doesn't use them.

I'm not familiar with that particular device but samsungs are typically pretty easy to flash assuming you didn't totally brick it. Have you poked around on xda? http://forum.xda-developers.com/ That's pretty much where all of the android development starts.

Look into it... If you get root, you can do whatever you want to do with it. Get rid of the crappy amazon launcher, add the google market and remove all of the ads. You'd end up with a nice little android tablet in the end. And you still have access to all of the kindle stuff when you want it...

Usually people are happy when they get a newer version of a product they returned... Did you check to see if they figured out a rooting method for the new ones? I got my wife a kindle last year, rooted it xmas night and put a launcher and the market on it and she has loved it all year...

Funny thread... lol 3 years of basic (yes trs-80 basic), 1 year rpg2, 1 year cobol, and 1 year vb6. I remember just about none of any of it at this point but I can make excel really sing. :)
