Which Black Friday laptop would be best for video editing/photoshop?

Hey guys, So I'm completely clueless about laptop performance in any sector of computing (gaming, editing etc.) but my friend is looking to pick up a laptop for video editing and photoshop. He's been living off of his 3 year old Pentium M Toshiba with 512mb of ram. Yes, not even 1gb...

    Cell Phone and Service questions...

Hey guys, I'm having a situation in my living area right now with my phone. I get no service in my room in college and because of this, my phone (LG Venus) is constantly searching for service. This wouldn't be such a big problem for me, but with the already crappy battery life, I find that my...

The Official P45 Asus P5Q Motherboard Thread

Hey guys, I'm running a P5Q-E with my E6600 and I had some questions about the OC. I'm currently at 400x9 on my CPU with my RAM set at 1066mhz. I remember reading that it's better if teh FSB:RAM ratio is 1:1, could someone give me a quick explanation or confirmation as to why? I'm currently...

The Official P45 Asus P5Q Motherboard Thread

The P5Q-E is an AWESOME board. I picked one up a couple weeks ago and been testing my OC. On my previous board (Gigabyte P35-DS3P), I needed about 1.456v BIOS vCore (no tool to measure idle/load in Windows) in order to be stable at 400x9. With this board, I'm stable at 1.4v vcore in BIOS (1.38...

So does EPU 6 work in S0 also? And EPU 6 also lowers voltages/fan speeds whereas AI Nap does not? Just trying to find out the main power differences here:)

How about using AI Booster to lower the FSB? Wait...Can you explain that more? I'm not sure I completely understand. AI Nap is similar to the "Stand By" mode in Windows XP whereas EPU cimply changes your voltages/clocks right?

What about AI Nap? It's no EPU Engine, but how do the power savings compare?

I'm also having a similar problem. I think you have to have the "AI Overclock" set to "Auto" instead of "Manual" for EPU to run normally.

The Official P45 Asus P5Q Motherboard Thread

Hey guys, I recently got my P5Q-E delivered and I have her up and running right now:) Couple questions...I just read the post above about the EPU engine and not running if you set AI Tuning to "manual". Is there any way to get around this? Also, I just felt the Southbridge (the one with the...

Is a vanilla Asus P5Q enough?

So far, I've been able to run 515x7 with my P35-DS3P but I've lowered it down to running 400x9. One of the things I really want to make sure doesn't fail is my motherboard...I've been having all kinds of comptuer problems that keep going away and coming back. I've always thought it was my memory...

Is a vanilla Asus P5Q enough?

What about the difference between the P5Q Pro and P5Q-E? I noticed that there are minor differences...specifically an E-Sata connection and the cooling system. Is the cooling system reall worth the extra $20? At first, I was considering going with the P5Q-E, but I'm not sure if it will be worth...
