question about the FSB-strap thing: odd stuff? mobo is asus commando

VC is set now to 1.5250. FSB term is 1.550V NB VC is 1.550V MEM is 2.2v SB is at 1.150v .. still windows BSOD's while loading when I boot at 8x400,8x401,8x402,7x400,401,402.. but 399 works fine! how odd.. UPDATE: I've put ALL voltages on auto in the bios.. except cpu vcore at 1.45 and DDR at...

question about the FSB-strap thing: odd stuff? mobo is asus commando

I got a E6600 yes. Well, I'm a sucker for high FSB speeds tbh.. I'd much rather run at a lower multi then 9 and use a higher FSB. I'd rather have less Ghz but faster system :) memory is 800mhz, but as you can see from the 6x440 result, it can go till 880 for sure. (it's corsair XMS2, a bit...

question about the FSB-strap thing: odd stuff? mobo is asus commando

(this is cut from another post of mine in a overclocking thread; but I wanted to ask some clarification on this:) I did some more experimenting with the straps and I came up with some strange results.. aren't higher straps meant to loosen the strain on the NB, meaning higher overclockability...

I did some more experimenting with the straps and I came up with some strange results.. aren't higher straps meant to loosen the strain on the NB, meaning higher overclockability? speed at boottime speed set with setfsb -------------------------...

    E6600,Commando,Corsair 6400 ram, trouble gettting +400FSB

NB Vcore : 1.50V DDR2 Termination 1.10V DDR2 2.20V FSB Termination 1.45V those appear in red... Running orthos now for 4 hours : 8x395 sync :3160Mhz; it's hard to get my system stable above 400FSB even at 7x so I might choose this frequency as my "ending"..

    E6600,Commando,Corsair 6400 ram, trouble gettting +400FSB

I understand that and I don't have any problems with settings cpu vcore manually, but if leave all other voltages to "auto", I immediatly get voltages reported as "red" in PC Probe.. so I'm a bit afraid of auto :)

DAN_D what did you do then ? leave all voltages to auto and select a multiplier like 8 or 7 and then up the FSB till you can go no further ? or did you manually set voltages to default specfications?

    E6600,Commando,Corsair 6400 ram, trouble gettting +400FSB

Little update: I remember I've set memory manual now, but the settings weren't more relaxed, and still I get more FSB!! As reported by CPU-z: (Running at 7x440FSB!!) Cas# latency 5 Ras to Cas 5 Ras Precharge 5 Cycle Time (Tras) 12 Command Rate 2T Could it really be that the "default" manual...

    E6600,Commando,Corsair 6400 ram, trouble gettting +400FSB

my system is strange! Currently running at 7x420 sync by setfsb, booted at 7x400 in bios. voltages are (reported by Probe 2) Vcore 1.36V SB(Ata..) 1.55V FSB termination Voltage 1.41 DDR2 2.14V NB Vcore 1.41V SB Vcore 1.150V ? (don't know for sure; have it set at bios, but don't see the item in...

    E6600,Commando,Corsair 6400 ram, trouble gettting +400FSB

just tried putting FSB at 400 or 401 at bios; doesn't post.. not with stock voltages and not with changed voltages. (when upping FSB I did reduce multi to make sure I had some 'headroom')

    E6600,Commando,Corsair 6400 ram, trouble gettting +400FSB

I've let it boot at standard frenquency : 266FSB and then up it too my desired speed with fsbset. Vcore is 1.40 atm; isn't that already pretty high ? I'm willing to up the voltage on all of my components; but only if there is no danger in damaging components.. my memory is corsair XMS2 6400...

    E6600,Commando,Corsair 6400 ram, trouble gettting +400FSB

I can't boot over 400FSB; but with setFSB I can go till 410, then it's down with the fun :( I tried 4:5 but I get less further with that .. Should I really have bought 8500 memory? it's a shame my corsair memory would only do such a small overclock.

    E6600,Commando,Corsair 6400 ram, trouble gettting +400FSB

Hello guys; I just got my computer and I'm experimenting a bit with overclocking, but I'm having problems getting +400FSB stable at my system... as I mentioned in the title; I got a E6600, asus commando board and 2 gig 6400 Corsair mem ( running at 5/6/6 15Clocks 2T - to make sure my timings...

    stuck at 400FSB sync, E6600 + commando

I'm running at 7 x 400 :) I know I could probably go 8 x 400 too, but I wanted to make sure the amount of Ghz wasn't the limiting factor..
