It sorta depends on what you want to do. If you're just basically looking for accurate colors, I wouldn't worry much. If it is for photo editing, graphics, and such, it can be problematic.
The brightness actually is what controls your black level, unless you have a strange monitor like...
Are you sure about that? I know that my Seagate drives, and I'm pretty certain it's the default way they are all shipped, were pre-configured with a jumper set to limit throughput. I noticed an increase in speed after removing them.
Thanks. Yes, I know that the small FFTs are most demanding, and that anything else I'll use this rig for won't stress things that much, so there's sort of a safety margin in there. I'd still wish for a little lower heat, though the AS5 is still newly applied and things will drop some over the...
First, thanks to everyone who participates in these forums. You've encouraged me to build my own box and OC it. The build went quite smooth, the only issue being what my temps look like.
It being my first build I wasn't very confident that I got my Scythe Mugen HSF attached very well. So, I...
Thanks! Yeah, I'll have to learn about a lot I suppose. I did look at Gigabytes site but didn't notice the RAM listed in the PDF as specifically working or not (I skimmed, however... it may have actually been there...). I'll look around a little more to see if anyone is using this memory on...
I'd like to know if I can likely achieve similar results as this article indicates at Tom's Hardware with 4 sticks of this RAM:

Yeah. The phone line goes into the modem, then it's dumped to my pc via usb. There are no other connections, save the line out for our phone service.
Doh! I should note also that it is ISDN.
I have a sorta unique problem, I think. I live in Japan and have a modem supplied by my ISP. I have it running via their provided driver on my English XP Pro, but 32 bit. I'm thinking that there would be some generic driver that could run this thing (either x64 or x32), but just don't know...
Did you try safe-mode??? Something is conflicting upon load and causing it to hang, I guess. This happened out of the blue to me the other day as well, and it took a while to get it sorted, but safe-mode allowed me to go in and troubleshoot.
I think Zone Alarm somehow hosed me. I dumped it...
Are you being pedantic in some way I'm not catching? I do mean two separate physical processors when I say "dual processor"; not dual core.
In my initial typing I certainly was mistaken about which software this affected, but it does affect server software.
Well, after having the bottom portion of the FAQ brought to my attention concerning XP Pro and Home not falling under this licensing strategy, I now see it is for server software. All I'm saying now is what the linked page says; certain (server edition) OS's will be required to be licensed per...
Yeah, I should have read all the way to the bottom of the page linked above (which is where I think I was reading the other day).
That page sure could be better, in my opinion. It burries the fact that this doesn't effect XP Pro or Home way down in the FAQ.
Completely untrue won't quite...
