I recently upgraded my home system to Kodi from Frodo XBMC. I like the interface for it much better than Plex, so I choose to use it in my house. It runs primarily on a dedicated HTPC connected to my receiver. Also to a couple desktop PCs. Watched lists are maintained via a mySQL database. Media...
Seriously. Had to redo my parity after adding a new PPU. Figured I would update to the latest release instead of running a version from 2 years ago. Took me over a week to get everything back to working again.
NCIX US has it on sale for $595.

Easiest way I've found is to set up the remote as an MCE Keyboard in the Logitech software. That way you can assign the buttons to a keypress on a keyboard.
There's a list of XBMC keyboard shortcuts here.
You can also get more involved, editing the keymaps.xml and such but try that out and if...
I live in a town of just over 6,000 in Colorado and about 100 miles from the nearest city, Denver. I have 50/10 from Comcast for $60 a month. I can also upgrade to 100/10 if I want to.
I'm throwing in another vote for a Roku in your situation. I was very happy with mine, but got the tinkering itch and moved to an raspberry. I'm now on a full blown HTPC because the experience with RPi was, while somewhat rewarding, ultimately frustrating.
Even my roommate, who is somewhat...
The issue here is definitely your server. I run Plex at home, as well as streaming it to several people outside of my home network. I have full 40gb Bluray rips that load from the server in my sig just as quickly as the 1080p files do. Before I upgraded the server it was running on an old...
You choose the number of parity disks in Flexraid, theoretically allowing you to handle n failures.
Also, there is a pooling solution with FlexRaid. Not quite as advanced as the balancing with ZFS, but it works.
Nice thing about CrashPlan is it's a set it and forget it type deal, whereas if you have a new picture you haven't moved over yet on a HDD that crashes, you're screwed.
Power supply, this review is of the new CX430. I've got one in my server. Seasonic wasn't worth the extra money. Modular...
If you can control the ambient light in the room, plasma is still the way to go. Best picture quality, best blacks, and best response time. Plus they're seemingly always coming down in price. I have seen several deals for Panasonic 50-60" plasmas for 600-750 over the last month. I'm not sure...
