    that's what i would do, a fresh install. it's a new pc, so i'd just be putting xp on there for upgrade purposes anyways. 20 bucks for the upgrade disk so I figured what the heck, might as well try it. thx for the help and quick answers

    Question: If I have xp 32 bit installed and get vista ultimate upgrade dvd, is it possible to install the 64-bit version of vista or am i stuck with 32? is there any way to do it? reason i ask is I can get the upgrade dvd for 20 bucks but i want 64 bit. thanks

    I didn't do anything special..just went to the driver settings, and checked fixed aspect ratio, and whaalaa, it was done...are you sure your refresh rate is set at 60hz?

    If you have an nvidia card, you can go to driver options and click Fixed Aspect Ratio, thsi will scale so that there are black bars on the sides

    Try Centered Timing in the ATI panel..I'm pretty sure i saw someone say that was the ATI equivalent

    I havent' checked out the LG yet, but I do have the viewsonic and so far I am well pleased with it.. I'm not sure where the above poster has seen that "many users" report screen door affect and backlight bleed.. I have seen 1 person complain about screendoor affect and less than a handful...

    Text is pretty damn small at native res..and for me sometimes it can be annoying because there seems to be like a purplish glow around it, especially on white text against black or vice versa..I didn't know you could enlarge the text. could someone share that with me, i am not sure how. Glad...

    Monitor support for Scaling vs L/R Letterbox

    If you have an Nvidia card, you should be able to go into your driver control panel and click it on fixed aspect ratio or centered timing..that will keep 4:3 content with black bars around it...

    There's another option in Nvidia control panel called Centered Timing, pry like the same thing borez was talking about a couple posts up...I like the fixed aspect ratio option better, using centered output 1024x768 is much to small for me on centered timing..Here's some pics on Centered timing...

    I"m on a 6800GT pci-x 2gb of ram...I can run oblivion at 1680x1050 with most of the settings turned up, some at medium..there's certain areas that it chugs pretty hard though..it's a really nice monitor, you'll enjoy it

    well i don't get off work for 6 more hours...keep in mind I didn't try any other games, just The Sims...I even changed it to 1600x900 which is the max res in the options for that game and it still kept black bars on top and bottom and didn't distort the image at all...Anyone with an Nvidia card...
