If you didn't do it yet, don't. I updated my TCU today and the new BIOS is totally stripped out, loads of options are just gone and the fans only have options of motherboard or CPU now (now TCtl) but what is not CPU seems to be TCtl so they spin up like mad.
Very disappointed so far and it...
Mine has started doing this since installing the 1603 BIOS, reverting back to 15xx did not help Installing an FX-8350 instead of the 960T, same thing.
What does get the machine to boot is momentarily flipping the power switch off then on - works perfectly doing this. Most odd and most...
Both the 16xx and this new 1703 finally allow unlocking of the 2 extra cores on my 960T.
It runs beautifully and seems much more stable and 0 errors on any of the 6 cores even with mild OC - so that's the good news.
The bad news is that with either of these, when the PC is powered off, it...
621/621 @ 1.25 core, 1.9 mem and untouch (1.887?) for the other one.
VF700CU, it is not noisy at 12v (well not totally silent either but I am quite fussy!).
It's drowned out by the so-called SilenX 14db (my ass, cheating averaging numbers) 120mm fan anyway.
Temps are ~45c idle and 70-75...
Do we not already have this with HDR on Counter-strike for example?
If you choose to turn it on and the other guys don't, you get blinded by the sun and they don't?
Solution: Turn it off if you are getting beaten silly. :)
On the other hand, maybe with the physics "improved" the action...
I disagree, in many cases the MINIMUM frame rate might go up that couple of FPS which is the difference between smooth and jerky. e.g. in FEAR on one card I was using (I think it was the X1800XL) the minimum FPS went from 23 to 27, that is noticable. :)
My temps went up after removing the stock paste, polishing and replacing with AS5.
The paste used on my card looked quite good (silver, nicely applied), card is a Connect3D.
Still waiting on my RD580 board and Cool-matic to sort it out properly. :)
Your temps do sound high, try...
If we do see this driver change, it will be intresting to see if some of the driver mod gurus can spot what was changed and maybe hack the drivers to work on nForce.
"Arctic".
Artic (short for articulated) is the type of joint on a lorry, between the cab and trailer (I believe what's called a "semi" in the US.(Prof mode off) :)
(no offence meant)
For the OP there's always the option of liquid cooling?
I think it's ThermalTake that have that...
Have you made sure you have the latest BIOS for the PC from Dell?
They release them quite frequently and some of the change logs can be quite large and bugs quite interesting. :)
As it's an AGP, check the machine has a the right version of AGP slot (I've no idea how old that machine is)...
I think there is something to this.
My Connect3D X1900XTX had some nicely applied silver looking compound and was idling at ~45C.
Going by another thread I sanded and polished the cooler (checked for flatness and removed all trace of polish).
I put it back on with Arctic Ceramique (a...
