Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Very strange, it has worked and I can see the second Raidz2 under >>menu >>pools, but the message I had in Napp-it was that there were no unused disks available?
Oh, I am getting no unused disks available, this is probably due to the drives already contain data and are formatted in ReFS, in this case do I need to reformat the disks first in Napp-it?
I have been using ZFS on OmniOS with Napp-it and must admit to have never added new disks to my pool.
I currently have 6 x 14tb WD drives in a Raidz2 pool with existing data and would like to an additional 6 x 14tb WD hdd's of the same type to expand the pool, below is how I think I should go...
Stupid me! I had forgotten to revert my adaptor setting to what they were on my NAS, I was doing some testing to try and bind two adaptors.
Now reversed the settings to what they were and the transfer speed now is between 500 mbs and 650 mbs, happy with that.
I have changed some of the settings under the adaptor on the windows side but not on the OmniOS side since I have updated OmniOS to r151054.
My adaptor settings on the OmniOS I recall were good, but not sure whether I loose these settings when updating the OS.
I remember changing the setting...
My transfer speed between my windows storage pool and NVME drive via an Intel network adaptorx540 t2 is between 800 & 900 mbs, the other way between 700 h 800 mbs.
Transfer between my OmniOS NAS also fitted with an x540 t2 to the windows 11 25h2 PC is between 10 & 11 mbs.
I have tried various...
Hummm... not happy with windows 11 for workstations storage spaces pool limitation of 63tb and the network write performance, only getting 100mb trasfering large files.
OpenZFS for windows is still beta, so I'll hold off on that one.
Will running windows server 2025 on hyper-v or vmware give...
Thank you for all your help _Gea, Windows can see now OmniOS NAS.
I'll be replacing the 5x 14tb with the 5x 28tb storage spaces hdd's very soon, hope it all goes well!
I have updated OmniOS to r151054lts, I have seen the below comments about updating beyond r151054lts, what's needed before updating to stable r151056?
Upgrade notes:
The grub boot loader is not supported as of the r151054 LTS release.Migrate to the replacement loader prior to upgrading.
Apologies _Gea, the error is due to static address being set on both of my network adaptors and recently I had a new ISP which I think dont allow static :(
