i had this CD that wasnt reading correctly on my PC. i asked my roomate to try it in his powerbook G4 to see if maybe it was my computer acting badly. the g4 wouldnt read it either, and now the CD wont come out of the drive. is there any way to force the machine to eject it, or to do it...
yeah, i noticed those extra four pins and i was like, wtf, did i buy the wrong adapter. good thing the 2nd IDE cable thing worked or i'd be shorting it with a gum wrapper or a guitar string.
i put the 2.5 on the secondary IDE cable. started right up, windows went into CHKDSK and five minutes later the drive was fixed.

my laptop decided to take a crap on me. i bought a 44 to 40 pin drive adapter to try and get files off of it. problem is, when i plug it into the slave spot on the cable, BIOS wont recognize it. when i unplug the power from the master drive, the BIOS picks up the laptop drive as a master. but...
the problem is that when i put in the recover CD, it automatically tells me that the system is prepared and gives me a button to restart. however it does nothing. i know win 98 used to let you make boot disks, but the closest thing i can find in XP is the 'make MSDOS boot disk' in the floppy...
last night i was using my computer, checking email and other chores, and it slowed way down and froze. i tried to restart and it would have none of it. when i try to start now it says 'Invalid Boot.ini file, booting from c:\windows' then goes to the windows startup menu (with all the options)...
