    The problem seems to be more 'cold solder' joints forming due to poor connections and the stress of heating and cooling cycles. The reason baking works is that it heats up flux and helps repair the connections albeit temporarily. I don't think there is a set way to guarantee prolonged life...

    If you are talking about the office max 3 year warranty, then they will give you an office max gift card for the purchase price of the everex when you bought it (since they probably can't fix it).

    It is the mobo. Baking it does work - reconnects cold solder joints, but probably only for a limited time (see earlier posts). I would probably try parting it out on ebay at this point. The everex era is coming to an end. They have closed up US operations.

    I am baking my friends also. It seems a logical fix, but I wonder how long it will last before the problems reapper. It is evidentally cold soldered joints caused by thermal cycling. I am sure a lot of baked 'katrina car' everex's are headed to ebay....:eek:

    2405FPW still a good monitor

    It is excellent monitor. The only issue is that it is not HDCP compatible so you may have trouble playing Bluray movies in vista. I have seen these go for $250+ on craigslist and think that a used working cared for 2405fpw is much better then a new 24" tn panel you would find in this price range.

    Yep, the 7805 and 7811 fx laptops are a pretty remarkable bang for your buck. I would say on par with the everex when it was $699 back in march of '07. It is amazing what changes in technology can happen in 21 months.

    The guy I sold my xt5000t says that it no longer will post. Just has the hd led and a few led lights turn on and then nothing. Screen stays black. Anyone having the same issue? I would like to help him out if I can. It was never overclocked and when i had it all I did was upgrade the ram.
