Scary for so many reasons. Compression can be used so easily to make it difficult to tell where the fake begins and the real ends.
Oh man think of the potential.
But yes please, more of this.
This is the kind of thing Sony should've done with the PSvita and PSP. A way to redeem your physical games into digital copies to play on the Vita.
Certainly kept me from being an early adopter of the machine with how the system is compatible with basically the entire library of PSP games. Only...
At this point with how costly this is on performance for reflections. Why not just render reflections the old fashion way (render geometry twice, mirror it or whatever)? Surely it couldn't cost more than a ray traced version and it avoids having to clean it up with temporal filtering and won't...
What a joke. No upscaling will ever be good enough to replace native content.
I'll be riding my 1080p TV into the ground as far as it can go. It really was a shame OLED never got to take off and develop more at 1080p.
Looks decent until you notice the temporal filtering falling apart when the robot arms start moving rapidly and occluding other objects in screen space. (And this is with a static heavily scripted camera. With user control of the camera it will look so much worse) Amazes me they can't come up...
What's awful is the typical jump to the rescure sites like The Verge and Kotaku trying to spin the story in her favor. Blatantly leaving certain things out as they please.
A good person would've realized after the guy apologized that it didn't have anything to do with gender and say something...
I've slipped and fallen down a multi level waterfall/pooling system like this before. It's scary as all hell. I was lucky to survive that as a kid. Slipped on the rock climbing part of the way and I kept going all the way to the bottom.
What 4k displays actually offer a real 4:1 point filtering upscale of 1080p to 4k? I don't know of any. Otherwise, despite the marketing speak it doesn't matter if it's an even number of pixels in vs out. The interpolation is still going to look bad no matter what. Unless you integer scale it...
We don't need more HDR standards. We need better display technology. Real, true HDR displays. LCD technology is still stuck in the past and built off of the poor foundation they exist upon.
Every new SW movie "ruined my childhood". There have been complaints of some kind since SW existed. The OT didnt' exist in a vacuum of perfection and all 100% positive reviews. People like to gloss over things depending on their memory of their childhood.
You can't please everyone. Everyone...
Hardly a scam when it's actually finished. Sorry they are building something ambitious at their own pace rather than at the demands of others. That's what crowdfunding is supposed to be about. The freedom to build on their time and creative schedule without the demands of a corporate overlord...
Metal gear online 2 also had a neat game mode where the map constantly shrunk to force played closer together until it was tiny. All while stealthed too. Fun times
