SENTRY: Console-sized gaming PC case project

Sentry is back online! Note I have no gpu yet to choke with this orientation xD. 3200g. Also yeah I may as well rethink sff gpu unless I wanna watercool..only able to utilize 2/4 Sata ports. Fixing the riser card into the mobo was a nightmare per usual.. It never wants to get in the slot...

Haha aww. Yeah you make a good point. It just so happens that my original mobo choice ended up taking so long to ship (3rd party Newegg) that I bought another one that can support Thunderbolt 3 displays...

SENTRY: Console-sized gaming PC case project

I haven't. There are a few things that stand out from that Amazon link most notably the lack of screen response time and any model number to further investigate. I see the Acer monitor on sale at micro center for $129, so I may take a trip over to Detroit when the world isn't topsy turney. I'm...

Yee usb c over micro is definitely an improvement in durability. It's something I'll have to consider. Glad to know it seems possible. Using the sentry at a cafe sounds too fun.

I Nay the Acer says power over micro USB. I'll def look into both more when necessary. I have a backpack that can def carry around the Sentry.

All I know is that with displayport alt half the usb c connectors are used for video transmission and the other half are used for USB power. I'm assuming that both of these monitors get around that by using one cable for video and another for power. I sell usb c to hdmi adapters here at Target...

I dunno. It's something I'd have to test. I might jump for the Acer IF it can work due to its advertised 7ms response. Though I like that the msi one uses usb c for power as my mobo will have a USB c jack.

Thanks. I didn't find the card you speak of on Newegg, but I did find a gigabyte 2060 mini that seems to use the same design that I might get instead for $299 as it's only a $70 difference for ~500 Cuda cores. I've also been looking at this portable monitor...

I'm planning on rebuilding my 1.1 sentry soon. The screws are a bit of a pain, but it's a sturdy little thing. It's not 2.0 but I still love the thing. Do ya'll think this card can fit sentry 1.1? Form Factor & Dimensions Form Factor ITX Max GPU Length 170 mm Card Dimensions (L x H)...

Oh those? Those are lost and gone. XD edit: even so, I'd prefer some that are more stable. I don't recall them being firmly attached. Not to harp on the sentry, I love it <.<.

SENTRY: Console-sized gaming PC case project

It's been a while. My mini itx mobo ended up blowing, and kaby lake isn't supported(thanks intel). My little sentry is sitting in a box with it's sfx psu. I've been thinking of getting a laptop, but I've also been thinking of rebuilding the sentry, and finding a portable monitor for roughly...

    Asrock H270M-ITX/ac Beware Wifi Issue

I love my H270m ITX/ac. It has SO many USB ports. I personally don't use the wifi much at all, but it has served me well enough (I blame my 5 year old router more) when I did. Stuff happens. It could be much worse than something as simple as using a few fingers.

SENTRY 2.0: Evolution of console-sized gaming PC case

I am also going to attempt the 40mm fan modification (not that it's much). I unfortunately won't have my room air conditioned this summer, and Michigan can get surprisingly hot. I already have the CPU sealed off, so I wonder how this will fair.

SENTRY 2.0: Evolution of console-sized gaming PC case

The revisions look great, I looked at the images a few times/ I think the ventilation improvements are very subtle and effective, and people will be able to see more of their components which could lessen the desire for a transparent panel. I can't wait until you guys test it! I would love to...

SENTRY 2.0: Evolution of console-sized gaming PC case

Those are questions for the DIY folks, haha. I'm just hoping to give those same people ideas if they haven't considered it already. If it was me I might just get a slim 140mm fan and some foam tape. I would drill four holes around the 140mm circle and use some kind of string/zip tie material...
