look's very nice! A little bit as the samsung led tv's? (with use also glossy PVA panels)
I have a dell ST2220t (glossy IPS) and those looks so much nicer than matte IPS screens.
For my work I use since short time a matte screen, and when the sun shines on it, it reads much more difficult...
Extremely nice screen indeed!
I have one too, and your expierience are exactly the same as yours!
Dell should put glossy screens onmore (and larger) IPS monitors! It's just that this monitor didn't have an AG coating that makes it's so much better than a U2410
A pretty good CRT blows the most LCD monitors of today completely away, because the today LCD monitors are mostly TN. TN is an extremely SHIT technology. The top of the picture that's darker than the bottem because of the crappy viewing angles. Washoud out colors, smearing, backlight bleeding...
I had an Acer P203W TN panel that gives a washy/pretty dull color reproduction.
Compered to my new Dell ST2220T, the dell has far more intense deeper and vibrant colors.
DON'T buy the UH2311H or any monitor with (strong) AG coating, these have dull colors and a grainy picture. A good (e)-ips...
Why LED?
The picture quality is not better with LED (but no worse ) than with CCFL.
With CCFL you have more to choose:
Matt (for example):
Dell U2711h
Dell U3011H
Fujitsu P27T-6
Lot of nec display's
Glossy (indeed with led)
Apple cinema display
Hazro
The service menu say's
RG7KR
M3C101
TVP
SVN980
But that's not a panel number i'm afraid.
Maybee it is under the tag "Panel V com"? (I don't know what that does).
I'm not going to disassemble the monitor, because of the warrenty, sorry.
When you sitting right in front of the ST2220, there is no IPS glow. But indeed, when you not, the screen gets a white tint with dark screens.
The st2220t doesn't suffer from backlight bleeding isues.
I have one, and it's a very great monitor! Much better than the U2211H with AG coating.
I don't know the type number, but it's an LG E-IPS 21,5 panel.
There are no other monitors with IPS and glossy coating except de apple cinema display and some hazro monitors, sadly.
It is indeed not a perfect monitor (for gaming), but it is really nice with watching video, photo's and normal browsing/office work.
You can also remove the coating of a IPS monitor, but that's risky . . .
