Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Hi there,
Have a whitebox media server with a Perc 6/i Integrated with LSI BIOS. It has been off for three months.
Upon power up I get a message with:
"Number of devices exceeds the maximum limit of devices per quad. Please remove the extra drives and reboot system to avoid losing data...
Appreciate all the answers guys. Thanks a lot.
Card is almost here. Will scrouge around for a bracket, and might just get all the drives at once (have enough data to fill the 11TB).
And skip meals for a few weeks :)
After your reply John I did a bit of a search for OCE and expanding RAID 6 from within the PERC 6 and it seems to be possible - Amazing what you can find once you know the terms to search for :)
I expected it would be a slow process, as it has to rewrite/redistribute data across a larger array...
I've purchased a PERC 6 and have only just made myself aware of some of the idiosyncrasies of building a RAID 6 - specifically the type of drives to use. So I thought it prudent I go over budget and get the most suitable drives (Hitachi 7K2000 seems to be the most recommended) instead of reusing...
Hi all,
Got a couple of questions regarding controller cards and motherboards that can't handle them - the "Have option ROM can not be invoke" message...
I bought a RocketRAID 2300 to add 4 more standard SATA ports to HTPC/Server. It works fine as is, but due to the controller's BIOS...
Yes, it will be HDTV I record.
Definitely don't want two HTPCs. I do have an Xbox 360. How is it with MKVs and ISOs though? Most of my DVDs have been ripped as ISOs, Bluray as MKV. There's upwards of 400+
Hi all.
My HTPC (in my sig) has gone through numerous phases over the years, from an audio amp-style small case with 2 HDDs with Vista to a full tower Server 2003 in another room with an Xbox with XBMC extender. Right now it's time for a rebuild, and I'm deciding what I want to do with it, and...
Cheers for confirming guys, as I suspected - a marketing gimmick. Can't wait to see someone with 32-bit Windows with 4GB of ram and a 2GB video card :D
Something I've been wondering about is video cards that have more ram than the reference cards.
Obviously nvidia and ATI have a certain spec for their cards but manufacturers have room to move for added value, but how much value is it really?
I've noticed in the last generation or so when...
Thanks for the info guys - I have an UPS on the way.
I had a friend check my PC out while I'm away and he found the fan on the video card was not turning - he reconnected the fan plug and it's going. I reckon I must have knocked it trying to squeeze the big mofo in to the case (or fit things...
Thanks for that info Dan. I've been without an UPS for about a year - I didn't know they help regulate the power to the extent it effected it's output too.
So if I have a 600W PSU, I should be looking at a 1000VA 600w UPS?
It's an Xfinity PSU. Not a big brand I guess. It wasn't a cheap one though (2 years ago), and did rate in the reviews I read (as far as accurate volts). But I will try a volt meter when I get home on Monday.
Thanks for the advice so far.
Hi there, lurked for quite some time but now I need some help! Apologies if I shouldn't be making my first post a support thread :L
I have just upgraded from a quite capable EVGA 7800GTX to a Gigabyte 8800GTX, but the performance is quite shocking - below the 7800's benchmarks. About 5000 in...
