We're talking RETAIL cards here. The original linked FiringSquad article also states what you just said....if memory serves me, they did it for the GeForce 6x00 series.....but the point still remains that no such option is available to the retail market to date.

In fact, NONE of the 7x00 series CARDS have said crypto chip. Neither do any of the ATI 1x00 series CARDS. I am emphasizing the CARDS part because although the cores of both series do support HDCP, no manufacturer to date has released a retail version of any card with the crypto chip to enable...
