Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Yeah I had seen the SM option, Tyan just happened to be what looked to be available. I just checked again though and today it turns out I can indeed nab a Supermicro H8QGi+-F - which is apparently SWTX form factor.
Thanks, that does look like a pretty nice case (and a very nice build you've got).
Cutting space for the IO panel should be no problem but as far as "very few screws lining up", what's the solution there, a little bit of dremel work?
Heya folks, I'm likely picking up one of these boards but I'm having trouble finding a case that won't cost me a bloody fortune on top of the already expensive hardware. I'm not keen on doing any case modding, I don't have the tools, the time, nor the skill set. So what are some affordable...
Alright while I'm waiting on machines to get here I might as well try to learn wtf I'm doing:
My everyday use machine is a windows 7 (willing to change os if necessary) box which would probably work fine as a server to the two machines coming but then I suppose I'd have to have all three of...
Being around these parts again is definitely contagious. I have to keep reminding myself that my budget can only do so much and that unless more money magically appears (unlikely) I'm going to have to be "okay" with whatever ppd it's able to grant me.
The 6132HE are 8 core 2.2 GHz, a gain of 400MHz over the 6166HE but a loss of 4 cores.
Reading around here it looks like PPD scales pretty linearly both with # of cores and GHz so the above those two options are probably pretty close(?). Thanks for the 6166HE numbers musky.
I can't seem to track down any ppd info on the Opteron 6132 HE.
400 and 500 MHz over the 6166HE and 6164HE respectively seems promising but the 6132 is only 8 core rather than 12.
Of course I'm going to end up being bound by whatever I can get a decent deal on but any thoughts as to which...
As far as the quad G34 boards go, tyan vs Supermicro H8QGi+- vs other ?
How much ram does folding really need? On my current q6600 machine w/8GB it's only taking 253mb so I'm guessing 4x1GB per processor would be plenty sufficient.
At the moment I'm hoping to pick up four used Opteron...
Thanks for the info, G34 looks very nice and Interlagos has me drooling for later in the year.
On multi-socket boards all cpus must be identical, correct?
Is there any harm in getting a quadsocket G34 board and sticking less than 4 chips on it until finances allow more?
I've got $2000-2500 CAD or so to invest in a folding rig, including shipping.
At a glance I could probably fit a dual X5650 ES into that, whether or not that would be the "best" thing I could put together is another matter.
Aside from hopefully getting a juicy ppd I'm also concerned with...
I owned one briefly (got it very cheap off ebay, eventually ebayed it for about the same price).
Do you have any specific questions?

Things I noted:
->Even the tablet version Windows is not really designed as a pen/touch screen os. Navigation is certainly possible but compared...
