    Dell U2515H

Did you get 2560x1440 as an option, or did you set it up manually with a custom resolution? I never tried custom resolution. However, I was on an older GTX 580, which had no DP support. GTX 970s all have DP-support AFAIK.

I'm still running at 2048x1152 because I don't have any DP-slots on my graphics card and no active DP adapter, so I'm not a good reference. Sorry. The stand is great, and feels very sturdy, however I bought the Dell MSA14 because I wanted to reduce clutter on my table.

So I just got (2 of) this monitor, and thought I'd chime in and point out that 2560x1440 is not supported over HDMI on this monitor. Guess I'll have to upgrade my GPU then. :( (Active DP adapters would be almost equally expensive)

    Virtualization lab without ECC

I've actually had bad memory cause 2TB of data corruption before it was detected. Luckily I had backups. The corruption would in fact show itself in spelling errors in documents, and random artifacts in movie files.

    Virtualization lab without ECC

Putting words in my mouth. Whenever data passes through your memory and is written to disk, there's a risk this data is corrupted. The risk is higher with non-ECC memory because non-ECC memory can not detect and correct bitflips. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soft_error Relevant quote...

so in your logic, why even sell non-ECC memory?

How do I set up my two SSDs in ZFS mirror?

Well, it's an all-in-one, so the hypervisor and NAS is on the same machine, and I've heard the 1Gbit drivers actually perform closer to 3Gbit rather than 1Gbit(?)

    DT01ACA300 4K ZFS ashift=12

Does Windows(NTFS) handle 4K automatically? How do other file systems do this? Is it just ZFS that needs it set manually?

How do I set up my two SSDs in ZFS mirror?

Will be shared through NFS, yes. (ESXi all-in-one :D) So nothing to worry about?

How do I set up my two SSDs in ZFS mirror?

What is the best way to set up two (Samsung 830 256GB) SSDs in mirror for a VM datastore? Should I partion the drives to leave some space available, or just let them use it all?

    DT01ACA300 4K ZFS ashift=12

Ah, I was looking at physical parameters -> Bytes/sector (Host). Thanks for the heads up.

Ok my head hurts. What the hell is the best gaming monitor?

Also, if your head hurts, that could come from sitting in a dark room with the monitor as the only/strongest light source.

    DT01ACA300 4K ZFS ashift=12

I just noticed http://storage.toshiba.eu/cms/en/hdd/computing/product_detail.jsp?productid=447 says 512 (I'm assuming host is what counts), so I guess I'll go with default.

    DT01ACA300 4K ZFS ashift=12

I just ordered some DT01ACA300 drives. According to alot of different sources, these are 4k drives. Should I use ashift=12 on these? (and on the same note, has anyone else had any experience with these drives? - cant find a single review of them)
