The problem is that my voltage is coming out higher than what's set-up in the bios. So a pencil mod may make things worse.
There is a new beta bios that's out for my board. Maybe I'll try that.
I know it's normal to have a discrepancy between the voltage set in the bios and the one seen in windows (like using CPU-Z). But usually the Bios voltage is supposed to be higher.
My voltages are all over the place.
I am setting my Vcore voltage to 1.4
CPU Z is showing 1.6
Speed fan, and...
funny, everytime my bios crashes now, I'm having to reset the CMOS manually. My Asus crashfree bios is no longer working I guess. I don't understand why. Oh well.
I installed a fresh copy of xp and obviously this had no effect on my inability to change FSB speeds. I don't get it. I am able to save bios profiles and change the settings. When I boot, it doesn't hang or anything, but it boots into the default FSB.
I even tried disabling some other CPU...
Hello guys,
My setup
MB: P5N-E SLI Asus , 650i chipset, latest non beta bios
CPU: C2D e6300
Mem: 2X1 gigs Patriot DDR2 800 at 5-5-5-15 2T
Cooler: U120 extreme
HD: 250gig SATA II WD
I recently upgraded my cooler to the U120extreme and was having a blast with pushing my overclock. I...
The synced mode and 1:1 mode confused me too. I always thought they were the same. But I have an ASUS P5N-E SLI, similar to yours, and in the bios where you set the FSB as linked, there are two seperate choices. 1:1 and synced. Synced mode halves the memory speed.
Also, would having faster...
Those temps seem ridiculous. You shouldn't have that problem with that motherboard set vertically and good airflow in the case. Are you sure your temp sensor is no faulty? Is your CPU passively cooled?
I have the ASUS M3N78-VM; which uses the same/similar NVIDIA chipset. Mine is the AMD...
I didn't try that. I'll try it next weekend and let you know.
The undervolting is doing wonders to my temps, but I had an automatic shutdown overnight. I need to find a more stable voltage.
I tried several things.
I have an 80mm scythe that came with the ninja mini. When I installed it on the ninja mini itself blowing in the direction of the ASUS northbridge heatsink, it made all my temps go up than without it. I guess it wasn't blowing air directly at the northbridge heatsink...
Disabling PhysX didn't make a difference on heat.
An 80 mm fan blowing down on the northbridge dropped my temps to mid 50s C. Now I need to figure out how to install this fan properly.
I was thinking of replacing the northbridge heat sink with a thermalright HR-05 SLI. But the Xigmatek mentioned above may work too.
I am gonna install an 80mm fan in there first though. Has anyone tried to install an 80mm on the back grill of an antec fusion or 2480 (same case)
How would I...
