Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Thanks to you both - I've plumped for a single 2Gb HD6950 (Sapphire) and will throw in another if I need to once other parts upgraded. Nice to be told what you secretly want to hear anyway ;-) .

I'm having trouble deciding on a gaming GPU with which to replace my ancient 9600GT. Tom's latest 'Best Graphics Cards For The Money' article has been my main guide, but as I live in New Zealand, I'm not sure how well it 'translates' to local conditions. My only real concern is...
Thanks Bill. The ASUS doesn't appear to be available in NZ, and Newegg doesn't ship here, but I've 'put my request in' for one of the following models: Linksys WRT160N, Linksys E1000, Netgear WNR2000.
I'll leave the desktop cables alone but don't think I'll be able to resist using the...
OK so with a birthday coming up [and this thread gone pretty quiet =) ] I'm thinking of asking missus for a wireless-capable router. Our current setup consists of 2 desktops with gigabit ethernet, a laptop with gigabit ethernet and 150 Mbps Wi-Fi, and a gigabit (non-wireless) switch (not in use...
You're all correct of course; the easiest solution involves throwing money I don't have at the problem. I must be very old fashioned though as I see this as an admission of defeat given that our setup has worked perfectly well for many years! However, with 2 laptops recently acquired the need...
Thanks for your patience f1y. autotuninglevel currently equals normal on 'B', so I'll give this a go just as soon as I can get the missus to restart 'A' ;)
The redaction team have just finished with the netstat output. Here's what's left (see bottom for 'legend') . Also, IPv6 tables removed (can post if useful).

Right, I've got the netstat info - does it contain anything I'd be foolish to release onto the interweb (given our security consists of the win7 firewall)?
"Poor" is the operative word f1y - US$50 is more than one third of what this student gets by on each week.
I've tried different DNS servers but the problem remains. As far as hard coded settings go, the only IP address that fails to be static is that of the 'B' machine, which obtains its...
Our 'network' consists of two PCs running win7. One PC ('A') is attached to a (router-less) cable modem, the other ('B') makes use of this modem via 'internet connexion sharing'. The problem I'm having is that the 'B' PC is unable to load certain websites that the 'A' PC loads immediately, with...
My current Maverick session features no upper and lower desktop bars, and is ignoring alt-tab commands. I have many open files I'd like to save before rebooting but have no idea how to task switch using the terminal. Any ideas welcome!
Thx Techie. A couple of minutes before I read your post I realised I could try 'blindly' clicking on the red 'shutdown' button, and finally managed to do so. Appreciate your reply nonetheless. Had the same problem with the Win7 beta - and the solution here seems to be identical: unplug the telly...
I've just uninstalled my NVidia video drivers (to prepare PC for latest forceware version). System rebooted, I logged in fine, closed the 'welcome' window, then suffered a loss of signal to the monitor. Now, I don't like hard resets so I found a shortcut to restart the PC from that state. Sadly...

I don't think so - current arrangement sounds good.
I'm guessing you're using a 32 bit OS - using the 64 bit version of XP (or Vista, or some other OS) should reveal your missing memory.
