don't need mATX. I could just get another Tforce...not a bad board. Worked great for over a year 'til I hooked up my new Thermaltake GPU PS backasswards. I posted a fairly hilarious review of my stupdity on newegg...if they approve it, my mental deficiency will be known to all :D
Through a fairly amusing example of complete idiocy, I just blew up my motherboard. Hopefully, the CPU didn't go with it, but I'll have to see about that.
Assuming the CPU is good, it's an Athlon 64 3200 Venice. I just need a good, relatively inexpensive mobo to replace the one I had. I...
Ah, how timely is this thread for me? I just got my 1900XT last night, and of course my current 430w ps won't run it...although it's run my 6800GS with no trouble...guess the 1900 wants a lot more juice.
Will order the fortron gpu power supply as soon as Newegg's servers are working again...
Consider the LQ L1970HR...Best Buy has it in store for $379, so I'm sure you could find it cheaper onine.
It's got a 2ms response time...a must for gaming. I just bought on of these, and I'm VERY happy with it. Prior to this, I loathed LCDs with a passion...the ghosting and other image...
If you go for Lords of Destruction, you'll need the full version of Diablo II as well. :D
It all starts to add up after a while.
My own recommendations are:
Far Cry for $19.99
Rise of Nations Gold $29.99
Diablo II, in the combo pack that comes with LoD add on: $39.99 iirc
If...
Do the math...the system's been out almost a week, there are massive shortages, and MS has yet to release their usual press release saying they sold a million units in the first 2 days. Wanna hazard a guess why that is? It's pretty obvious.
MS doesn't have the systems to...
I was disappointed in both, to be honest.
Both have some pretty stiff hardware requirements as well, so if the AoE 3 demo won't work, I'd take a look at that. Honestly, the Rise of Nations Gold CD has entertained me a whole lot more than either Civ IV or AoE 3, and you can get that for $30.
For single enemies, you can shoot them in the knee or foot, and stab the crap out of them when they're on the ground.
Unfortunately, head shots don't kill the bad guys in this game with just one shot...as a matter of fact, later on, head shots can be BAD. You'll see. :D
I bought Civ 4 and AoE 3, and was disappointed in both of them. Civ 4, I can't put my finger on it, but it just didn't do anything for me, and I've played the hell out of Civ 2 and 3.
AoE 3 is pretty meh too.
I've been playing CoD 2 and Far Cry a lot...as well as *trying* to...
get the Gamecube, grab RE4, and enjoy one of the great video games of all time. If the new GCs don't support 480p, though, I suppose you might as well play it on the PS2. Out of curiosity, does the PS2 version support 480p?
I don't now about the newer models of the Xbox (not the 360), but the original ones were NOT progressive scan..they could play games in 480p, but not movies.
The original PS2s were NOT progressive scan either...but they switched over later on...I can't remember the specific model, but it was...
+1...I just got my GS last night, and it's a great thing to be able to go back and set resolutions to 1600x1200 AND turn AA on.
I played Dawn of War last night, and just marveled at how smooth it ran with all the detail turned up. I could even get the FEAR demo to run smoothly...
Something does sound amiss here....my non OCed 2500 Barton system does 15001 in 3dMark 2001 with a 9800 Pro in it, so you should be ahead of that. What kind of motherboard do you have, btw?
