Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I did what you did with removing drivers (with DCleaner, and I did it in Safe Mode), actually three times.
One after trying Catalyst 5.11 with Control Panels.
One after trying Catalyst 5.11 with CCC, two times.
Right now, I'm on Catalyst 5.11 again, but I only downloaded and installed the...
I have tried to do it. And now the pins are almost placed as they were. With probably a 2% or 3% angle, couldn't say exactly.
The thing is ... would a CPU actually loose performance if a few pins aren't perfectly angled ?
Wouldn't it just not work at all ? Wouldn't it just eventually...
Oh my GOD ...
What I feared happened.
I decided to take a look at the Processor itself, physically.
Guess what ?
Three pins are curved, not enough so that the pins won't fit in the holes, but curved enough to notice it. Damn ... how did I ... nah, I won't even try to think...
Eeew ...
I think I got a problem.
I finished installing the basic stuff in Windows, and configured it to some extent.
So far, I installed:
Windows XP SP2 + web updates
nForce 4 6.70 drivers (without the IDE driver, and without Firewall / Anti-Virus)
Catalyst 5.11 with CCC
I ran...
Huh ?
No, 9000 is not low for a stock speeds X1800 XT.
It's supposed to score between 8800 and 9200. Depending on your other system's specifications.
Memory timing and frequency, CPU frequency, etc. A couple of things can "decrease" the potential of a score on a specific...
It's in Montreal, Quebec, where I live. It's called CIPC.
And as I am typing this, I am re-configuring Windows. I hate doing that, but oh well, I must.
Now I gotta go download and install ATi Catalyst, because this 60 Hz flicker is melting my eyes to oblivion.
I'll be back in a few...
I just arrived from the local store !
Finally. I had some discussion with the seller, and I ended up with a different Motherboard, and a different Power Supply.
He's a good vendor, and he's almost a friend (I buy stuff from that store, and from that seller since 2001).
My original idea...
Hehe.
Nah I'm not rich.
I saved for an high-end system since almost one year. But I saved "too much" even for high-end. I try to get one account for "technical stuff that I don't really need", and one for real stuff, clothes, food, paying bills, etc, etc.
I could go for $4500 worth of...
Finally, I know what I'm going to do.
I'll go with the XL, and keep my CPU for now.
Next month, or maybe in January, I'll go with X2 4400+.
ATi has yet to release a Dual-Core CPU optimized Catalyst anyway. So, going with Dual-Core now with an ATi GPU isn't the smart move.
But if...
Hi.
My current system specifications:
A64 3500+ ClawHammer
ASUS A8V Deluxe
1024 MB Dual-Channel Kingston Value DDR PC-3200 3-3-3-8
BBATi Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB 256-Bit AGP
And I want to upgrade.
I'd like to get:
A64 X2 3800+ or A64 X2 4400+ (dilemma)
ASUS A8N-E (definitive...
