[9800 Pro] Random hangs, even after 2 formats.

It really does appear the card has died. I took it to a computer shop, and they said the fan was dead. so I bought a thermal take giant-aluminum mofo and installed it, only to find that the damage had already been done.

Doom 3 crashes to desktop,.....could be overheating vid card?!?!?

by "the crashes seem to be at random", do you mean you've started to experience crashes outside of Doom3 now? if that's the case, your Radeon could be damaged, like mine probably is. I'm taking mine for maintenance. (Right now, I can boot into windows and start doing stuff, but not long after...

Arctic Silencer 9800 Pro, possible without removal of shim?

I believe this was already discussed in either this section, or the general video card section.

    how much is it worth?

the card is worth more than that; if you don't want it, you could probably buy it and sell it brand new for a profit.

    9800Pro/XT White/Red Dots in Doom 3

I did have the same problem with my Sapphire 9800 Pro 128 MB, non -xt, but I can't remember what I did... I'm now having the dots problem with all of my computer, so I removed the card. I think it's shot. I believe the white/red dots is caused by the XT it self, so maybe, and I remember reading...

[9800 Pro] Random hangs, even after 2 formats.

it seems the radeon has died. I rebooted after another crash, only to find scattered white/black dots in my POST and BIOS screens, and a quite distorted windows loading screen, etc.

[9800 Pro] Random hangs, even after 2 formats.

I ran Dawn of War a moment ago, and it DID run, however the screen had various polygons thrown about and a bunch of artifacts blinking around. My computer crashed a few seconds after that.

The 9800 pro is still kicking @$$!

my problem is in this thread: http://www.hardforum.com/showthread.php?p=1026433482 Anyways, I'm too scared to overclock my radeon... I think I'd have to get better cooling if I planned on doing that.

[9800 Pro] Random hangs, even after 2 formats.

I'm pretty sure it's stable, especially since I got the crashes even when not overclocked. I also ran the computer overclocked 24/7 since last august. Only problem is now.

[9800 Pro] Random hangs, even after 2 formats.

Ok, I did what you suggested, and reserved the IRQ slot 11, however, the Radeon and others in that slot just pick another one. After leaving my computer on with the card enabled for 5 hours, I thought I fixed it, and said to my friend "No crashes yet today!" and then it crashed. And crashed a...

[9800 Pro] Random hangs, even after 2 formats.

I'll give that a shot, though everytime I restart my computer, my video card is on a different IRQ. I thought originally the AGP and PCI slot 1 shared an IRQ, but it seems to change every boot. Right now my Radeon is sharing with two USB ports on IRQ 16. Last time it was alone on IRQ 10.
