Glad to have tested these. The ones that google search shows didn't match these KBs.
So far after a half dozen reboots, that "unsupported hardware" does NOT appear. At this point, I will no longer do any updates since I know one of those two is the problem.
I am staying away from these 4...
So on most of my previous installs, I did all the KBs, and never kept track of which one caused the unsupported hardware error. And when uninstalling them, the unsupported hardware error remained.
So I did NOT do these two updates below, which could be the culprits, but it's too early to tell...
I've installed Windows 7 on the MSI Carbon X399, Samsung NVMe 960 M.2 (PCIe), and everything works exactly as it's supposed to. Have had this setup for months now (since late August), along with Windows 10 and macOS Sierra (more recently). All solid, including prime95 torture.

I happen to get one card per day from EVGA directly. Got 2 already and could have had one per day if they didn't have a household limit.

Got an email from EVGA. 5:59PM today, saying the 690 is ready and can be ordered now. So I looked up "now" in the dictionary to find the meaning. It defines now as this: "at the present time or moment"
At 6:01, sold out. I guess 2 minutes wasn't now enough. haha
Crosshairs, I guess that sets the precedent most of the time. Still, crazy. Don't get me wrong, I'm tempted, but logic kicks in. There will probably be shortages for a long time.
690's are going for $1750-$2500 on ebay (that's what they're asking, obviously not selling).
Found a few local from craigslist for $1600. Still, seems ridiculous to pay that much.
Awesome. That Throttle Stop was cool. Had a benchmark setting where we can enter the threads too so you can see it peak.
Got the answer I was looking for. Basically all 16 cores burst to 3300MHz at the max, and stay there. Temps were in line too, so it could sustain that.

Found an app called RealTemp v 3.70. It shows that the 2900 MHz CPU's maxing out at 3300-3520 during the tests. Idle at 2300MHz.
Any other apps which show each core?
I have a dual E5-2690 (16 cores/32 threads) setup on a Supermicro X9DAi and we're trying to see if the CPU throttling is bursting properly. Testing is being done with Windows 7 64bit.
Are there any apps for that can show the actual speeds that are running? This would be great during a test to...
