    high refresh question

That's 4 characters, I said 2k which is correct by current branding conventions and is only 2 characters. I win.

    high refresh question

Not really correct. 2k and 4k are both bs marketing monikers that aren't indicative or respective of actual tech spec data. That being said, displays which are most commonly referred to as 2k, are 1440 (2560x1440). Nobody, not resellers or the makers, refer to 1080 displays as anything other...

    high refresh question

If this kind of posting is discouraged here, please let me know as I haven't posted here long enough or looked at enough threads to really notice. I mean consecutive posting instead of editing even though I clearly have edited certain posts. I've posted at umpteen forums over a decade and a half...

    high refresh question

~update~ Wasn't impressed with the monitor or gsync, like at all. Taking it back and gonna get the LG 32UD59-B instead. Over 400 less and still a beautiful 60hz 4k monitor. Thanks again for the replies!

    high refresh question

I never buy used, sorry. I did just buy a new 1 on sale though and it's great so far, but how do you get gsync to kick on? I enabled it in the control panel, but I checked a frame counter in game and it was over 60 into the 70's so I'm pretty sure gsync was not on. I checked global settings in...

    high refresh question

Thanks for the replies so far guys! I have been looking at both Acer Predator 32" gsync monitors also. The 4k/60 and the 2k/165 ~edit~ just found this, looks good, but only freesync and I am forever team green...

    high refresh question

"Non-adaptive sync displays will just refresh at their refresh rate" Ok, but what about a game that is hard coded to only do 60fps at 60hz? That's exactly the scenario I'm asking about basically. A game designed to run at 60 on a 144hz monitor for example, what would it do, how would it behave...

    high refresh question

What do games with locked fps/refresh rates do on a high refresh monitor? Like if I tried a game designed for 60hz/fps on a higher refresh display, would it work, what would it do or take to get it to run properly? The reason for my question is that I'm shopping for a new display and am...

    New Performance Benchmark from Unigine

Ram is running dual channel (I lol'ed when I read that actually, but thanks for your input) and Vsync isn't on. Whatever the issue is, it's very subtle and only a reinstall will likely fix it. I need to reinstall Windows for other reasons anyway, but have been procrastinating. Anyway I...

    New Performance Benchmark from Unigine

Like what? I enabled DSR factors for the 4k and 8k runs to display on my 1080 monitor, but that's it. I seem to remember something about 32gb of ram potentially being weaker in terms of performance than just 16gb so maybe that has something to do with it. I have 2 16gb sticks running at XMP of 2666.

    New Performance Benchmark from Unigine

eclap also has a GTX 1080 and a cpu that's almost identical to mine except 200mhz faster and his scores are 2k higher. There is definitely something wrong with my system, but unfortunately I have no clue where to start looking. GPU usage is sitting at 99% throughout all runs regardless of...

    New Performance Benchmark from Unigine

My 1080 has a pretty healthy factory OC (1847mhz) on it though so I'm still unsure if there is something amiss with my results. Barely over 4k score on the 1080 Extreme preset seems very low for an OC'ed GTX 1080 and a 4ghz ht i7.

    New Performance Benchmark from Unigine

Nice to see more results and now I'm convinced my scores should be much higher. How is a 980 ti paired with a slower cpu than mine beating my gtx 1080 running the 1080 extreme preset? ~edit~ Just noticed the cpu is oc'ed to 4.6 and is an i7 like mine so I guess 600mhz faster cpu can make a...

    New Performance Benchmark from Unigine

Interestingly enough, the cpu didn't seem to bottleneck the gpu (as much/at all?) when I ran the low preset with opengl instead of dx. Might have to retest a few times to see if it was some kind of fluke and I'll monitor everything with hwinfo during to see if I notice any anomalies.

    New Performance Benchmark from Unigine

Decided to try the 720 low preset just for the heck of it and as I suspected, hit a cpu bottleneck. As you can see, the gpu maxed at 76%. From my previous posts, you can see that I have run every other preset and never went below 98% until this.
