    4K computer monitor-what's the catch?

I'd love to see a chart showing this display's scaling refresh rates vs resolution. If at SOME resolution it can do 120Hz (presumably 1920x1080), then perhaps at 2560x1440 it can do 60Hz. That would be a great buy still to get a 3-4MP 39" monitor for $700 that can game at high res at the same...

    4K computer monitor-what's the catch?

All really good info and my bad for making a new thread b/f searching. So, the big one is that sucks for gaming b/c of the 30hz refresh. The reality is the resolution would likely be dropped down anyway since the list of cards than can push 8 MP at >30fps in any recent game is probably small...

    4K computer monitor-what's the catch?

So...what's the catch? It seems too good to be true so I think I'm missing a key specification here... http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=8430969&srkey=S874-3905 39" display 3 HDMI, USB, VGA 3840x2160 native resolution (!) 113 DPI (compared to...

TOSLink to Onkyo SR707 only producing Stereo?

Subject says it, mostly. I've got a PC built and hooked up to an Onkyo SR707 via combination DVI-to-HDMI and TOSLink. Sound from the PC comes through as expect for basic Windows operations, music, etc. The audio is coming from the on-board RealTek digital audio output via optical port...

    Shockingly slow SSD performance

Strange. You seem to have understood my question and replied to it just fine with the information I provided. Here's a comparison with a Corsair M4 in a different machine: Amazing the difference. In my ignorance, I presumed to think that an SSD would be significantly faster than a...

    Shockingly slow SSD performance

I was clearly not talking about the sequential read speeds :) It was the 5-7 MBps transfer rates between partitions that got my attention...and yes that's between USB 1.1 (1.5MBps) and USB 2.0 (~20MBps) speeds.

    Shockingly slow SSD performance

Yeah I'm realizing now this is a problem with the particular flavor of poo that Asus packaged in this ultrabook. Still, I have a hard time understanding the real-life speeds. In what world does transferring between two partitions on the SAME DEVICE result in <10MBps speeds? No modern...

    Shockingly slow SSD performance

Really.....really bad. AS-SSD Results In IOPS The access times are shockingly bad too. .475 and .940 ms are good compared to mechanical, but modern SSDs are producing times like .03 to .1 ms access times. This is 400-900% slower.

    Shockingly slow SSD performance

I'm worried about the fact that these numbers are slower than anything I've seen shy of a USB 1.1 device from 10+ years ago and wondering if this is a symptom of an impending drive failure. It's not just synthetic. As I said...copying a block of data files from one partition to the other...

    Shockingly slow SSD performance

I'm running on an ultrabook: the Asus UX31. The drive in question is the SanDisk SSD U100 256GB. I've heard some reports of sluggish performance in cases, but after running CrystalDiskMark on it, I'm concerned it actually might be failing. I have the drive partitioned into a C and D...

Any experience/advice on USB docking solutions?

http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-PA3927U-1PRP-Dynadock-Universal-Connect/dp/B006ZGWJU2/ref=pd_sim_pc_1 Looks like a nice alternative to the one I just linked.

Any experience/advice on USB docking solutions?

http://www.amazon.com/Targus-SuperSpeed-Docking-Station-ACP70USZ/dp/B005YR1PV2 I'd hope the bump to USB 3.0 might alleviate bandwidth issues I'd expect to see supporting multiple WUXGA displays over a USB connection... Thoughts?

Any experience/advice on USB docking solutions?

Here's what I've got: Asus UX31 24" Ultrasharp Dell Display USB keyboard, wireless mouse, etc What I want to do is add another external monitor (another 24" US) to expand my workspace and cut down on the amount of plugging and plugging I'm doing. The UX31 comes with zero docking...
