Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I was eagerly awaiting the XT launch as I am running a 975 chipset which would have allowed me to upgrade to a couple of them without changing the mb and possibly the ram. I was so thoroughly disgusted with the XTs performance and AMDs lies that I ordered 2 GTXs, P5N32E and 4Gb of Crucial...
The last few weeks have been quite the roller coaster ride for those of us looking forward to the release of the new cards. Things should be much clearer on Monday.
Personally, I'm much more interested in what the cards performance is in DX10. However, there only appear to be a few apps...

I've got money burning a hole in my credit card!!!!!!!
The GTX cooler should be fine. There are at least half a dozen good aftermarket coolers for the 6600. Check peoples sigs for ideas.
The GTX will yield the largest gains as 1 of them almost performs as well as 2 1950 XTXs. However, I don't believe the P5W supports Nvidia SLI, you wouldn't be able...
Factory defaults don't normally result in performance. Learn to tweak the BIOS.
Personally, I'm waiting on the 2900 series to launch and see Nvidias response before deciding what and how to upgrade.
My rig, similar to yours, but CF, gets 11000 marks in Vista64 and 11800 inXPPro.
It appears to be hit or miss.
My experience has been that they run about the same, some slightly less.
I would expect this to change as new drivers are released and optimized.
Prior to this fix I would BSOD 2 of every 3 boots.
Set ATI EEU to manual in Services.
Once in Vista, start it thru Task Manager.
6 straight boots, no probs.
