PC becomes extreemly slow when writing files on primary drive.

I just cloned my partition onto a Seagate 400GB Refurbished drive and booted up with it. Now everything works fine. I guess it really was my hard drive dying.

Onboard Audio sounds better in Windows 7?

I know that the CPU is doing the work in processing the sound, but it doesn't seem to be taking any noticeable performance hit in my games as opposed to using a creative sound card. So.... in what way will the Onboard Audio suck in Windows 7?

Onboard Audio sounds better in Windows 7?

I recently upgraded from Windows XP Professional to Windows 7 Ultimate, and I noticed something. In Windows XP whenever I used my on-board audio (SoundMax ADI 1988B Chipset), I was always getting a subtle electronic interference noise whenever I cranked up my speakers to max. However when I did...

    I am a gamer and a musician.

Basically this means that the card has ASIO 2.0 support, which is good for having low latency timing when it software synthesizers. That's good. I wonder what versions of EAX it supports.

That's a good question. Anyone here know?

    I am a gamer and a musician.

Well, I use FL Studio 8, and FL Studio has significantly less stuttering whenever I use ASIO vs Direct Sound. Not to mention the latencies are significantly lower. 10ms for ASIO vs 100ms for Direct Sound. This is why I use ASIO.

Ahh okay. My Soundblaster Audigy 4 supports native ASIO on the card itself. Are there any non-creative cards that support ASIO as well?

I was wondering. In the age of multi-core processors and gpu's, does hardware audio really make that significant of a difference?

    I am a gamer and a musician.

I am a gamer and a musician. Right now I am using a Soundblaster Audigy 4 but I am noticing popping and crackling in my games whenever I enable the "Hardware Audio" option. I fear my soundcard is on the verge of dying and it's time for a new one. I hear that Creative is sucking rather badly with...

Soundblaster Audigy 4 Popping & Crackling Problem.

Yep. I tried all of my PCI slots. I got the same popping and crackling issue on all 3 of them. It only shows up whenever I play EAX enabled games... or games that use "Hardware Audio"
