So here I am eons later and I want to hookup another computer using HDMI.
Has anyone been able to hook up a PC over HDMI and use the 1920x1200 resolution?
I'm not able to go above 1920x1080. Thanks.
You need a RS232<=>TTL converter. You can find them on sale online.
To connect it, you have to take off the case off the monitor, find the service pins and finally connect the cable to the pins. I also drilled a hole in the case so that I could close the monitor and have the cable accessible...
I need to get rid of two old CRT monitors. If you want them you can have them if you can come pick them up. The location is in the Bronx.
The two monitors are:
Dell P990 19": Last I remember the image was slightly fuzzy.
Sony CPD-E500 21": Had a problem with brightness but was solved...
I have a 24" WS and a 20" WS and I don't like it for coding. There's too much head movement required. I think two 20" WS or three non-WS would be better, ALTHOUGH I think a 30" might work as well. I find that a 24" is good for having some stuff side by side, but I feel like there's still not...
Get the W. The WZ has a different panel with an optional feature for reducing ghosting... it doesn't work very well so you're not really getting anything by paying that extra price for the WZ. If you plan to connect other devices to it, make sure you get one with the latest firmware...
Hmmm... I do hear a faint noise when I scroll over that particular image and it gets quieter as I scroll off. I haven't noticed anything during regular usage.
It's obvious if you stand up and listen near the vents.
Adjusting brightness/contrast does nothing to the sound.
Their system is just slow to update. Mine shipped but it was a couple of days before the information was available on the page. Look out for a tracking number under "Tracking Number" in the invoice. Mine showed up before I received any updates from them.
