Everyone has their own experiences with different MB manufacturers. I've never had an issue with an ASUS motherboard, and use them in most of my builds. I've also never had an issue with ASROCK motherboards. MSI's are about 50/50, and I used to love Gigabyte mbs, until the last 3 I purchased...

Blue screens with the old motherboard, now black screens with new? Sounds to me like it's not a motherboard issue at all. If you have some old memory, video card, or psu laying around, I'd suggest swapping them out.

Glad I accidentally stumbled onto this thread. Wasn't even looking for something related to this. Baked my laptop mb with video issues earlier at 375 degrees for 10 minutes, and now it works like new again. :cool:

I like this motherboard a lot better than the Evga 680i i had before. It's a lot more stable in Vista x32 and x64 with SLI.

I run the system in my sig with Vista x64 with no problems at all.

There's always the possibility that when your old PSU exploded, it damaged you MB right along with it.

101.41 would cause my video card to turn off. It didn't lock up my system, only turn off my video. I had to go back to 100.65 to get it stable again.

I'm just going by what I found when doing a quick google search. On MSI's website it shows that their 6800 Ultra 256mb card has dual link DVI. http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/vga/vga/pro_vga_detail.php?UID=673

Both DVI outputs on the 6800 Ultra are dual link. On the 6800GT one is dual link and the other is single link.

nvm. I thought i had read somewhere that the 9800 pro card had it. I'm wrong. The 9600 pro definitely is dual link though.

I was having the same problems. Got fed up with it and reinstalled XP. Gonna wait til Nvidia gets off their Lazy asses and releases a driver that actually works.

9800 Pro is dual-link. So is the 9600pro.

I was able to open 31 windows with no artifacts, so I am certain it's not a hardware issue in my case. Couldn't open anymore than that cause my system was pretty much at a standstill. Test it out in XP and see what you get.

I just reinstalled XP cause I was having severe issues getting my 8800gtx to work in vista. I was getting severe artifacting in games while running SLI. I know it's got to be the crappy Nvidia drivers cause I have 2 BFG 8800gtx's also and they did the exact same thing. I tried 2 different...

The screenshot wasn't working for me earlier. That does look more like a hardware issue than a driver problem.
