Since you've seen your fair share of monitors up close, how well do you feel Windows and Windows applications handle DPI scaling for 4K 32" displays?
I've never seen a 32" 4K display in person, but from the calculated DPI at pxcalc I think the UI of many applications would become a lot harder...
Maybe this is just semantics, but I thought scaling any lower resolution image up to fit a higher resolution display constituted upscaling.

I get that "screen fit" and "just scan" are the same thing, but what I'm wondering about is what that does exactly with a 1080 or 720 signal on a 1440 display.
Does it still fill the entire display (meaning scaling the image up to 1440, with no overscan) or does it result in some black borders...

About the banding I had mentioned before, if you can't see the lines from a foot away, you shouldn't have the problem. Seeing only faint lines when very close is probably just the result of eye fatigue and would probably happen with any display when viewed for long periods at that distance...
Using the old Wii component cables slipped my mind as well, so I will consider trying out the ev2736 when I look into purchasing a monitor again. I'm going to stop the search for a month or two because of other obligations that are taking up more of my time.

I'm thinking specifically of a much less common, much less user-friendly console that happens to use HDMI.

I always forget why I didn't consider the Eizo, but I checked again and the Eizo doesn't have a HDMI port. I rarely connect consoles, but I like having the option. That's the main reason for 1:1 pixelmapping anyway, since I can use GPU scaling if I want to watch letterboxed videos from my desktop.

I don't have any experience with glossy IPS screens, but isn't the reason the blacks appear grey on the glossy finish just that the reflection is partially obscuring the image?
From the picture, I would think that in a dark room the two should look about the same.
