Since you've seen your fair share of monitors up close, how well do you feel Windows and Windows applications handle DPI scaling for 4K 32" displays?
I've never seen a 32" 4K display in person, but from the calculated DPI at pxcalc I think the UI of many applications would become a lot harder...
Maybe this is just semantics, but I thought scaling any lower resolution image up to fit a higher resolution display constituted upscaling.
Is there some other terminology that I'm not understanding correctly?
I get that "screen fit" and "just scan" are the same thing, but what I'm wondering about is what that does exactly with a 1080 or 720 signal on a 1440 display.
Does it still fill the entire display (meaning scaling the image up to 1440, with no overscan) or does it result in some black borders...
To be clear, I'm referring to a specific setting called "screen fit", like how many TVs have a "just scan" option. It should be able to fix the overscan problems with AV mode, but I don't know if it will lead to a 1:1 mapping in the center of the display or not.
That's a page from the...
Could you check what "screen fit" does with a 1080/720 signal? On Samsung TVs I believe it only serves to prevent overscan, but for a 1440 monitor I wonder if it simply prevents overscan or if it actually allows 1:1 mapping of non-native resolutions.
You might have to change the input to "av...
About the banding I had mentioned before, if you can't see the lines from a foot away, you shouldn't have the problem. Seeing only faint lines when very close is probably just the result of eye fatigue and would probably happen with any display when viewed for long periods at that distance...
Using the old Wii component cables slipped my mind as well, so I will consider trying out the ev2736 when I look into purchasing a monitor again. I'm going to stop the search for a month or two because of other obligations that are taking up more of my time.
Might you know of any retailers...
I'm thinking specifically of a much less common, much less user-friendly console that happens to use HDMI.
You can probably guess which one, since there's only one other major player in that market aside from Microsoft and Sony.
On an unrelated note, DST just started here for the Pacific...
I always forget why I didn't consider the Eizo, but I checked again and the Eizo doesn't have a HDMI port. I rarely connect consoles, but I like having the option. That's the main reason for 1:1 pixelmapping anyway, since I can use GPU scaling if I want to watch letterboxed videos from my desktop.
It's fairly obvious on a black screen, but I'm not getting a replacement. I'm thinking about getting a monitor that has 1:1 pixel mapping now, though I'm still undecided on what to get.
I just searched that thread real quick and the picture in this post is pretty much the exact same problem I had, but with a much better picture.

I didn't realize it's a known problem with...
I see.
I had always thought that a reflective finish would have the exact same effect as having glass that covered both panel and bezel before, but now I know to avoid completely-covered glass displays even more than other glossy finishes. I always look for matte (or...
I don't have any experience with glossy IPS screens, but isn't the reason the blacks appear grey on the glossy finish just that the reflection is partially obscuring the image?
From the picture, I would think that in a dark room the two should look about the same.
Another quick question if you don't mind. Have you tried attaching limited range RGB devices (such as certain video game consoles or standalone media players) to see if the monitor can detect (or perhaps has a setting for) limited range RGB output to avoid having the "washed out" look?
If you still have the monitor around, could you verify whether it has 1:1 pixel mapping for lower resolutions?
I believe it should since 1:1 pixel mapping should really be standard now, but some cheaper (meaning sub $1000 range, not Korean A- single input cheap) 2560x1440 monitors omit the...
I will be returning it soon; it's raining over here right now and I'd rather not take the monitor back while it's raining.
Checking the service menu, the panel is still a Samsung ltm270dl02 so I don't think it's the same as what's going on with =DEAD='s AH-IPS panels, assuming the information...
I have a question about the panel on the vp2770 for anybody that might be around:

(sorry about picture quality, but I am using a cheap digital camera that I don't really understand how to use)
On a black screen, I can see horizontal lines that seem to cover the entire...
My u2713hm developed a dead subpixel today (a red one) and it's still within the return period so I will return this monitor soon. At the time, I was looking at a mostly white scene in a video (watching an old episode of Community, where lighter scenes are actually kind of rare) and noticed...
I just thought of something about the bl2710pt that I'd like to know if you still remember from your testing last year. I had tested the one I had a few days ago on standard mode only and I noticed that the three color temperatures for normal, warm, and cool (I believe labelled "red" and "blue"...
So when people buy the 970 or 970d, they have no way of knowing whether they're getting flicker-free or ridiculous flicker until they power on their monitor? That seems like it would be as horrible for retailers and distributors as it is for the end-user, so I'm surprised distributors don't...
Just read through that thread, and I've read before elsewhere that Samsung Canada has horrible customer service. To be honest, I have always felt that Samsung isn't really a quality brand with quality products. But we can't really do much about Samsung and LG being the two main manufacturers...
Sorry about the picture quality, I don't really know much about working the camera I have around. The bleed did mostly appear as it does in the picture though. It manifested as a series of grey horizontal lines on the right side, wider towards the bottom right corner and narrowing to pretty...
I just got my bl2710pt from Best Buy (online) and it has some issues.
Is this backlight bleed unusual for the bl2710pt?

There is another issue with some dust underneath the AG coating but I didn't bother taking a picture of that.
NCX, I know you don't have the...
I see. So if it's a problem with Nvidia drivers in particular, I should be fine if I only plan on running 1080 through HDMI with consoles, correct? Following those settings laid out in your review, I mean.
It's been a few months since your review, but do you know if the same thing happens over HDMI as well?
Also, have you considered the possibility of the difference being related to the graphics card you're using? I think Nvidia and AMD have different default settings for different ports, and...
