Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
If only they had done something like "this is how linux works today" and then "this is how windows/mac works today" etc etc etc, and concluded with something like, "in the end, it's all about user preference" the article would have achieved it's goal nicely... instead, it was the same...
CDs are like floppy disks... following the same path... they'll be around for quite some time, but they have been rendered obsolete by their successors.
and 280 PCB, and 280 BIOS... but with just 896MB of RAM
I agree it is very unlikely that this problem is limited to just this one card. I'd like to know if EVGA will do a research to see if other customers were also affected, and if possible, the outcome :)
Updates:
I got my replacement card. It's a regular GTX 280 (I asked for some kind of compensation, which I honestly thought was in order, but EVGA assured me that they had no cards in stock better than the same 280 -- makes me glad I didn't buy a 295 :P)
Anyways, I proceeded to remove the...
I found this link from another site...

It has a little bit more information on how it works, although it appears to talk about an older version of the Hydra
Last Friday I clean installed Windows Vista x64 SP2 to discard the possibility of a problem between the driver and Windows 7. The issue remained. I also tested on the system a different GTX 280 I borrowed from work and it was detected with the correct specifications.
EVGA agreed to replace the...
I apologize, at the moment I was outraged and I accept I didn't choose the best title for the thread (although it did succeed in getting EVGA's attention). I would gladly change the thread's title if the option was available (it is not).
I'd also like to add the following: EVGA is not stuck...
Actually, you could not be more wrong. I am simply updating the thread on everything EVGA has requested me to do (Jake is indeed helping me via email) and the results. Once this issue is resolved, I'll give credit and my thanks where due.
The next step I was requested to do is time...
Update: I was instructed by EVGA to flash the VBIOS. It didn't work...
It still shows the amount of memory, the bus and some other specs as if it was a GTX 260...
Waiting now on EVGA. I'll, keep you guys posted,
Thinking about it, I agree I might have been a little too paranoid blaming EVGA the way I did, but the fact remains, this card came directly from them. At some point the quality controls failed, and I doubt this is the only card that came out of their RMA department messed up like this (they...
Thank you all again.
I was instructed by EVGA to test multiple driver versions, uninstalling them before updating of course. After a while...:

190.38
190.62
And at last, the Vantage score:
Definitely below expectations...
(BTW, If you are wondering, yes, PhysX is on)
