it looks to me like those solder points are clean and never used. I have an LGA board here that has open points in the socket area similar to the pic above and it works fine. Try the board... I'll bet it's meant to be that way.

Start with that and add a VGA cooler if needed. If you end up with an 8800 or something you can always add a second radiator later. The pump in there can take it with ease.

PSU would be my first guess. After that the VR's on the mobo. Either way back off your OC before you fry something. Try using a different higher quality PSU and see if it goes away. I have had some issues with the more recent truepower Antecs just up and dying or squealing then dying.

R3400 is pretty robust stuff.
Having been considering a chilled alcohol loop for a while that 2700 is pretty tempting...:D
post some pics when you are done! R3400 is hawt looking stuff. I plumbed my whole machine with it and i couldnt be happier. It is a bit stiff compared to masterkleer but resists kinking very well. The UV resistance couldnt hurt either.:D
I am also sad to see them go back to the "darkside". Hopefully we pick up some of their readers who just can't go back to canned benchies. I for one, could never go back.
