Decided on a Dell SE Inspiron 15R. Has 6gb ram, ATI 7730M 2 gb graphics, 3rd Generation Intel Core i5-3210M Processor 2.5 GHz (3M Cache, up to 3.10GHz), 1080p, 750gb 7200 RPM hard drive, CD-DVD burner and 3 yr contract for 1.1k. Not a bad deal I think. I can always change out the memory and the...
Yeah the Y580 is something I'm looking at. With a 3 yr its like 1250, which isn't bad.
The Dell Inspiron Special edition 15R is similar, 6gb RAM, ATI 7730M 2GB, 750 7200 rpm drive, 1080 but no Bluray for 1094. Though the question is, without Bluray drive, do I really need a 1080 display?
Alright, my Lenovo T500 finally gave up the ghost and I'm ready to get a new lappy. Since this is back to school season, it seems like the perfect time. Here are some specs
15.6 Screen
At least 6gb RAM
Discrete graphics at least 1 gb
Prefer a 1080p screen
HDMI output capable
Prefer Blu-ray
Cost...
As much as I'd love a SSD, they're pricey. I'm trying to keep costs low and storage size is more important than speed. Reliability is the biggest issue. I don't want to lose experimental data because of a hard drive failure (I do backup frequently however).
Also, since I can't find it anywhere...
Hey all,
Various diagnostics on my laptop are squawking that my HD might die soon, so I need to replace it. Any recommendations for a reliable HD for a Lenovo T500. I'm looking at the 320GB range. Thanks all.
Interesting. I thought I had read even the 2010 models were effected (affected?, bleh) by the voltage stepping. Well I guess I'm still stuck. Seems like the best choices are Samsung plasma/lcd or maybe toshiba. Panasonic still gives me some concerns. To bad Pioneer is out of the plasma business.
Wow, excellent suggestions all. I had though the LED-LCD's were closing in on the quality gap of plasma's but most of the suggestions have been for plasma's. 2 Questions if people know the answer's. 1) Are the new G20's affected by the panasonic black problem? 2) Just how much more power on...
Digital cable, blu-ray a receiver at some point and maybe a HTPC though maybe not. My guess is 4 HDMI inputs would be better than 3 as well as at least one of the each of the other major types.
