    I haven't done this in a while (I had to delete my ripped DVD-A's because I was running out of space), but if I remember right, I just used the command-line version of the FLAC encoder along with a GUI frontend.

    Yeah, theres nothing like that for me in Vista. In XP, the sound drivers for my system have a control panel that lets me easily setup the digital and analog audio how I want, but nothing of the sort in Vista.

    Confused about which software to use

    What's so bad about using MediaPortal for videos? Ie, what is it lacking in? I use MediaPortal with the Dscaler MPEG2 decoder, and FFDShow for upscaling, and I wonder what exactly you mean by saying that Zoomplayer has features that MediaPortal is lacking.

    Energy Efficient AM2 X2 3800 and OC?

    "unmountable_boot_device"????

    If you read the posts above yours, they're telling you to use the Windows recovery console, which is a bootable app on the windows disc. I had the same problem and was able to fix things fine, the hard drive still works fine. My problem happened because I lost power just as Windows was booting up.
