    I have a TYAN S8230GM4NR and am in the same boat. It seems these chips only work nice with SM boards. At 'stock' speed of 2.0GHz, I can jam anywhere from 1.0V - 1.25V and - by running it in the garage - keep temps below 20C. They're never stable for more than a few hours.

    Just got back from holidays. Turned the A/C off before we left and heated the house with 3 x 460's, an 8800GT, an i7 2600k @ 4.5GHz, and a 2P 6128 (<-- poor thing barely keeps up to the i7 now). Managed 80k+ PPD. The basement was 80*F upon return. ;)
