Had to take a peek at the forums after watching Linus' video. Lots of feels in here. Might have to jump back in considering the state of things these days.
I have a TYAN S8230GM4NR and am in the same boat. It seems these chips only work nice with SM boards. At 'stock' speed of 2.0GHz, I can jam anywhere from 1.0V - 1.25V and - by running it in the garage - keep temps below 20C. They're never stable for more than a few hours.
Two 8800GT's and the 10k PPD they'll give might be enough to keep neck and neck with you! :)
I've been living quite similar to you, although all gaming shut downs have been caused by either me or my wife! But top 80 on this team is something significant. And don't forget PPD ranks. We're...
One of us will hit 50 million before I get the 2P back up and running. I might pull out a couple 8800GT's and fire up some C2D's for fun.
Hell, I might even give up League of Legends for a week just to make up my deficit on you. ;)
Sorry for not being clear earlier! Interested to know if 2x6172 will meet bigadv deadline. Already have a pair of 6128's that don't cut it anymore. Poor things...
If I could get these damn 6234's to work in my TYAN board, I'd leave you in the dust. But, after that monster thread about them, it seems spicy Interlagos' are on a strict diet of Supermicro.
Just got back from holidays. Turned the A/C off before we left and heated the house with 3 x 460's, an 8800GT, an i7 2600k @ 4.5GHz, and a 2P 6128 (<-- poor thing barely keeps up to the i7 now). Managed 80k+ PPD. The basement was 80*F upon return. ;)
For Canadians, the Antec HCG-620M is on for $65 at the four-letter online retailer that starts with 'N'. That's a 620W Modular PSU made by Seasonic with a 5 year warranty.
Let's take a look at the top 20 producers, or even the top 40 producers. Then look at all the guys who have 25 million or fewer points. These folders are putting out 100,000 to 500,000 PPD and have very recently started doing it. Some of these names may not be familiar in the forums but their...
I'm currently using version 7.1.50 and have been experiencing this error for about a week now. The GPU will complete a work unit - without issue, and in good time - and then this happens when it tries to get another WU. This is just a snippet of the error as they continue to happen for about...
I'm reminded of this bash.org quote:
Every three updates or so I see one WU drop for about ~460 points. I have no idea where this box is or what it could be. Looks like uniprocessor points but I've never set up anything with less than SMP!
I've got an SR-2 that needs to go! I bought this from a fellow folder a few months back but ended up going G34 instead.
SR-2 including shipping - $400 USD ($350 USD if shipping within Canada)
Make sure you take a look at dreadwing's sale to get a pair of CPU's to go with this board!
Sirmonkey, I'm almost too familiar with that stats site. ;) That's how I knew I missed a WU.
Nathan_P, thanks for that tidbit of information. It sounds like that is exactly what I'm looking for.
This feels like a noob question but I can't find an answer...
Is there a site that shows your completed WU's, time completed, points credited, etc? The reason I ask is because I completed a 6903 on Saturday night and I don't see points for it. 300,000 points stands out against my usual 50k ppd.
Thanks for posting this, dreadwing. Saved me posting the exact same thing as I'm (planning on) firing up my 2P G34 tonight. And thank you musky for keeping that guide up to date!
2 x 6128's
8 x 2GB GSkill 1333 @ CL7
And a lovely Tyan S8230GM4NR
Hope to flip the switch next week! Stupid family getting in the way of putting new D online... ;)
I'm not sure the points are updating properly. My updates as shown by extremeoverclocking are weird. I've got one update for 6 WU's equaling 2200 points yet I fold SMP on a 2600K and GPU3 on 460's. The 2600K turns in 5k-7k per WU and the 460's are 5187 / WU...
